Just a quick question..I booked a room at Aloft and wanted to find out is since I used my credit card to make the reservation am I able to pay for the room in cash after I check out or am I pretty much stuck using my card? Or could I do half & half?

I see nothing on the O'hare Aloft website that says anything about using cash. Other Aloft hotels have varying policies ranging from requiring a credit card authorization for the full amount then letting you pay cash at check out to allowing you to use cash but needing an extra $50 a day deposit.
So my initial thought is they don't take cash but above poster said I would call them to make absolutely sure. Below is the link to their policy page for reference.

With Starwood hotels (which is what ALoft is part of) you will need a credit card on file, and you need to tell them you want to pay cash for the final part on check in. Problem with that is you may need more of a deposit if you are doing that.
I would also suggest, if you're bringing a lot of cash, to have them keep it for you in the hotel safe.

No, Most hotels usually have a safe that only a handful of staff have access to that you can store valuables in. You would give them a sealed envelope with the money in it, then before you check out you ask for you envelope back, you then pay at the reception / cashier counter. Hotel in general will not agree to take money out of the safe to pay for the bill, but they will keep it locked up for you.
