Let's try to keep this civil and avoid falling down into a "i hate bioware" rage panel. lets discuss it, go over details, idea's and possible meanings (spoilers...didn't finsh or play, don't complain)

I found any and all of the endings not only highly unoriginal but very unsatisfying. I loved Mass Effect 1, 2 was decent but the ending of 3 left a very bitter taste in my mouth.
All systems... GO!

I thought all the Mass Effect 3 endings were a real let down. The story was leading to something big but in the end it just fizzled out.

Interestingly this is how MOST endings in classic science fiction are. I cant' say I liked them, but under no circumstances did it ruin the entire game for me, let alone the entire trilogy. I guess I just knew ahead of time that there was no way five years of build up could live up to expectations.

Well, thats not the worst part..i can live with the Illision of choice the "mock" three choices gave you. Its that for 3 games.....there is no summary..no wrap up. No closure to 6+ years of game time and dlc. No story for "and this is what happened because of you..bravo"
I more or less assumed shepard would die, He'd have to or go the way of Ender. But a 3 minute ending...thats the same more or less for all 3...and no wrap up for everything else?! that's just an insult.

Which, again, is like a lot of classic science fiction. Like Harrison Bergeron, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, Cat's Cradle, etc. Tycho and Gabe of Penny Arcade have brought up an interesting argument: the whole of ME3 IS the ending. Thing is most of the character baggage is resolved far before the final mission. In all honesty I've always found the B-stories in Bioware games (such as the Krogan trying to find a cure for the Genophage or the conflict between the Quarians and the Geth) to far outshine the main narratives and since those are wrapped up nicely in ME3 I wasn't really bothered by the ending. At worst I was just apathetic.

So after ~40 hours of epic play on the edge of my seat, I finally beat the game. Let me just say I'm joining, what seems like, the rest of the world by proclaiming a giant WTF? The ME3 experience was fantastic but the ending didn't give me the closure I wanted. Instead I was just left asking more questions... soul crushing disappointment? I don't know how to feel.

This is exactly how I feel.

I LOVED the game. I was beyond worried with all the crap buzzing before the game released (Jennifer Hepler being the new lead writer being top) but I love the game all the way til the like 10 mins. That ending was plot hole central. It was Jumper level ending.

I love how people are trying to defend it and calling the people at bioware geniuses. Do they know that wasn't the original plan? How can you scrap what you have built up in the other two (dark energy/matter whatever you want to call it) then scrap it, and decide to go another path. >_> Man, so dissapointing.

Has anyone been keeping up with the indoctrination theory?

As I was watching my ending, the only thing I was thinking about was how I was going to go online to get as much info regarding these endings as possible. Apparently the Effective Military Strength determines pretty much everything. I was a little upset when I discovered that but then I discovered something even more ridiculous: the Readiness Rating can only be changed through multiplayer! O.M.G.

I guess those ~40 hours I spent playing almost every side mission didn't matter.... FUUUUUUUUUU!!

Yeah I didn't like that one bit. You had to STRUGGLE to get the best ending if you didn't play multiplayer. (which if people don't know, is 5,000 or high EMS) tho it doesn't really change much, the ending still blows chunks. lol

I think its important to focus on everyone's resolve in the game. The ending ending was super shitty but the part at the camp where you get to say your goodbyes was awesome and felt like a good ending to me. I was hoping for more of a "f#%& yea" with a tear of pride in my eye sort of speech to be given but it served it's purpose. It would have been cooler had he addressed the whole fleet prior to the space battle where they could show everyone get super hyped too. Ah well.

The problem is...what happens when you have the bulk of the game being 99% awesome sauce but the ending being such confusing, unclear..illogical crap it just made you forget the other 40+ hours you just played? That's a huge problem. Just picture your favorite movie, and then it's ending. Now replace the ending with the man character dieing and all tech in the universe blowing up. doesn't matter the genre, just impose that and see if your brain doesn't go "uhh..whobawhatnow?

I'm indifferent with the ending. I've played alot of games with little to no ending and to be honest the rpg type endings have really never been anything special. Skyrim no ending, deus ex:HR mediocre endings, etc. But I can see why people are dissapointed or angry at the ending. Even with that said I still think mass effect 3 is a excellent game.

I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

That's part of the fan's rage over the endings. "three games worth of choices and effect's and it literally boils down to 3 options. Two of which are literally the same and one is the only possible way to survive. All having nothing to do with then 100+ gameing hour's you'd have invested between all three.

Disappointed in the ending, definitely... when I went online to look up everything I could I was in rage mode. I calmed down, did more research and I'm at the conclusion that we're getting DLC (hopefully we don't have to pay much or at all for it... doubtful since this is EA) and the BS endings they gave us are just placeholders. Talk about false advertising and mind-screwing your audience.

Well I keep with AngryJoeShow and here's a damn good video explaining everything (for those of us who are left going "awhhaaaa???" SUPER SPOILERS!!! You've been warned!

I feel like these endings were such a lazy cop-out on Bioware's end. They were very similar, just different colors.

Finally got the chance to play through the game. While I certainly enjoyed the game and the time I spent playing it, the ending certainly did leave me wanting. The whole choice thing seems more and more lost by the end of the game. Seems most of what you thought were significant choices in the first 2 games boils down to maybe 20-30 EMS in the 3rd game.

I'm in a weird spot in that I don't entirely hate the ending. I didn't like it and it certainly felt like there should have been more. I think the reason people are so upset is that the game simply did not live up to its potential. It had the potential to be a work of art. Something that people talk about for years to come. A revolution in gaming where the choices made in prior installations vastly affect what happens in the following one. Instead it kinda boiled everything down and sort of lumped what you thought was an open experience into essentially a linear one. No matter what you did, no matter how many people you ticked off or saved, you get 3 choices.

joking aside i looked up the extended endings, while the ending still have the starchild, it fixxed the plotholes with the ending, like the issue that people had when the relays blow up, why the normady and crewmates telaport to a jungle, and there is closer to your choices, like seeing the geth and qurrians live together. seeing the fate of the krogon is also nice.

it a good ending, people still complane since "it the internet". but if this was the ending back in march it would be very little issues. but given what went on since then, DLC at launch is a bit better then playing single player online.

The ending is slightly better. It gives more closure, but didn't fix all it needed. Godchild needed to go. New plot devices SHOULD NOT be added at the last 5 mins. Especially Convient stuff like that.Tho i liked the fact they address harbinger laser run, crew in jungle plot hole lol (although it makes no sense at all. You guys have time to stop like that? In a hot zone at that? Wha?It was a tape to fix a leaky ship, but it was more satisfying then the original. I can deal with this one a lil better. At least there is closure. Bioware isn't exactly known for good endings.
