There are some really cute shirts there on the International Angelic Pretty site for about 61yen. Roughly that's like $70 right? I also think
that getting an outfit there is a nice Idea. Though it will be tricky because if you buy a ticket but can't find an outfit in
time you're out that money and no tea party :( Hopefully the tickets won't be that much, but if you have to pay for the ticket
AND an AP piece the overall price could get pretty pricey. :(

I'll be curious to see how pricy the tickets are.

That is cute! Dont they usually say they are replicas? I have never bought off of bodyline so I am not sure. Could you email bodyline and ask them if it is a replica?

YAY for fate!!

If its not made by AP, it's not AP.

Bodyline has a lot of replicas. They don't label them as such.

No we know. She is trying ti figure out if it is an AP replica, like bodyline trying to copy an AP print/dress. She doesnt want to wear an Ap replica.
What if the hokey-pokey is what it is all about?

my only JSK is by Bodyline. I'm sure they'd frown on that too. (If I went I was just planning to wear my Miwako costume.)Thank you for the clarification Elle. Hopefully we get a chance to meet each other at the con! :)

I think they'd accept faiy-kei, too, if you're into that? Alot of fairy-kai girls seem to incorporate alot of angelic pretty accessories into their coords:)

The tickets can only be purchased for a specific acen.org account, and will be limited to 1 ticket per badge purchased on that account. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Your matching ACen badge will be checked against the Guest List to gain entry to the event. All this will be detailed in the full post. Sit tight.

I have a question on this, I'm working in the vendor room for some friends of mine, how would I go about buying a ticket? x.x (I was actually hoping to get two of them one for me and one for another person that is also working there)

61 yen is a little under $1 (about $0.75). 6100 yen is more approximately ~$75.

If yen is confusing, think of it in terms of "Pokemon Money" -- as a kid we all thought "man, potions are expensive, 300 ''Y dollars'' each?!" but just didn't realize to think of that "Y" in our heads as pennies -- 100 make $1, so that super scary expansive potion turns out to be 300 "pennies", or only about $3. (100Y=$1 used to be the fastest conversion trick in the early/mid '00s. When the exchange was higher/better for foreigners, it would be less than that (@ ~130Y/$1 it would be ~$2.30), and when the exchange was lower/worse for foreigners, it would be closer to $3.90 around 76Y/$1. Basically, at 50Y/$1 add half the cost, and at 150Y/$1 subtract half the cost.) After a while it gets easy to calculate the exact rate, but until you're used to it, it's easiest to assume "100 yen = 1 dollar" and in your head adjust a little for the bad rate (right now it's about 20% higher than the "magic 100"). I use an app/widget on my mac for quick conversions or if I need the exact rate, though many websites are out there that do it free for non-Macs -- Yahoo! Finance's is one of the best, actually (Japan <3 Yahoo).

The current exchange rate sucks (~84Y/$1), but is still loads better than this past year's ~76Y/$1.00... Up until the global economy sank, the average exchange rate was ~130 yen/dollar, so to see it this far down is almost painful in an "ow, I can feel my wallet bleeding" sense. Imports are brutal these days. :<

The two of you interested would normally go onto each of your ACen accounts, (the one you buy your badge with), and follow the to-be-given-once-posted-later instructions from there. As vendors with badges lacking specific names, that might be a problem, however. Regardless of the method, though, you would each have to try to get your own ticket - El Ken already posted above about that - 1 ticket per ID/account. (Seeing how the Embassy was almost sold before official opening this year, you may want to stalk the forums here for updates & news -- with [limited] tickets, they'll be sold out in maybe 5 minutes (at the most!) from the announcement that sales are live.)

Edited for typos & second quote/reply.

Okay, few things. Unfortunately, your JSK is a replica, or least a lookalike. Its of Victorian Maiden's Dress Up Rose JSK. The fabric is the same. Bodyline has also done a lookalike of Angelic Pretty's Cameo Rose. While someone told me that other brands have used this fabric (which I was not aware of), Bodyline's dress design mimics the OP. I'm saying this in a completely neutral way, since I only recently found out about the AP original myself, and I know that they're saying that "replicas are frowned upon", and the Bodyline print was very popular, as its was one of their nicest! (Whoah there, run-on sentence!)

Also, I have my reservations about fairy-kei being an appropriate route for this event. While it is attached to Anime Central, a very informal event, brand tea parties are usually all about the lolita aesthetic, and the brand aesthetic in general. For this type of event, I think it would be prudent to wear (I hate to say this) but "safe" lolita that reflects the brand look that AP goes for. There have been a few awesome exceptions, like this girl wearing Puppet Circus in a gothic vampire style at another AP tea party. However, on the whole, brand tea parties are usually seen as somewhat "special" events in the lolita culture. But again, by no means am I trying to dictate who can and cannot/should not attend! Myself, I don't plan on it. While I do dress in the lolita fashion, AP doesn't exactly ruffle my bloomers (although if we were talking Alice and the Pirates...oh man!), and I wouldn't be really fully appreciating what I can only assume is the intent of the event. Again, I am not trying to be elitist or exclusivist, so please don't take it that way!

I'm gonna be blatantly honest, I can't afford to buy AP stuff (especially because I am not a typical AP size), and I was hoping to be able to attend so I can learn more about it and learn more. :(

oh well. Guess I'm one less person to go against for the limited tickets. Just highly disappointed.

Don't be disappointed! *hugs* The tea party would be for AP fashionistas and admirers of the brand (at least that's how I see it). If it was an open Lolita tea party dedicated to just Loli's of all kind getting together, I would recommend going to that one (sadly there isn't one) but there are Lolita panels that would be much more enjoyable for you to attend and learn from. In all honesty, I don't own any AP or any real brand name Lolita items. I buy all of mine from indie designers and that doesn't make me feel any less of a loli. I love putting my money toward amazing indie designers which I know the item was made with love. There will always be those elitists in every subculture so don't feel like the majority will look down on you for not having designer clothing. Just have fun with it. It is a fashion. Just be respectful of everyones opinion and educate yourself about it. Some make it a lifestyle, others make it a hobby. It's up to you to determine what you want to do with it. The egl community on LiveJournal has tons of guides and information for those new to it.

Anywho, I hope those who really want to go to the tea party are able to attend. Maybe those that don't can have another tea party... Possible Lolita meetup idea? I don't know of any place by the Con. Um Starbucks? :D lol

The Chicago girls are definitely doing at least one big meetupt, but the details aren't quite hammered out. We'll be seeing each other all convention long, anyway (I mean really, how many people in poofy dresses are there?!) and all the girls here are very kind and social. Its seems like this year is kind of frill-centric, and pretty much everyone I know is beyond excited. :)

Egads, I hope they don't really sell out in 5 minutes. >_< There are going to be a lot of very sad lolis, including me, if that happens. I hope it doesn't happen while I'm at work or late at night when I'm asleep so I at least have a chance.

I don't care about brand, never have and never will. I care how it fits and looks.. which is why I want to work on sewing my own. Which is why this tea party sounded so fun. I wanted to hear about inspiration, and idea, etc.

just like with my cosplay, my pieces may not be the exact name brand seen in the show, but they are an homage, they are close, and they are within my budget. for me, it's about the heart and the person behind it, not what name is on the tag.

I know I'd probably get looked down on in many loli circles (the least of which being my height/weight/curves), but I really like the style, and I would love to have a closet full of name brand, but the fact is, I just can't do it. Some pieces cost more than a new car! ;)

There is a Sew Loli panel on Saturday at 1:15pm. That sounds like a more suitable place to ask questions about design, inspiration, etc. The Angelic Pretty Tea Party is most likely going to be more about appreciation of the brand itself and fans being able to meet the designers from what I've heard about other brand tea parties at cons. I'm not saying you still can't try to get a ticket or anything, but I just think the Sew Loli Panel would be more beneficial based on what you said you're looking for from it.

Is this going to be an apply-for a ticket thing like a lottery, or just a sells-out-in-minutes sever crashathon free for all?

So, I'm confused x.x maybe I'm misunderstanding it. What account? I've only been to ACen twice and both times have been working in the vendors room.
But, it sort of seems like vendors are kind of screwed when it comes to getting tickets because we don't have specific names? Sad day D;

The latter. Though, I don't expect the server to crash since AA didn't crash the server this year -- and they sold out in 12 minutes.

Id assume it would be open to all con attendees...because well if it wasn't they would lose business! because not everybody is going to be able to go to the tea party (seeing as there are [limited] tickets) That leaves how many other lolitas that aren't attending whom would still wish to shop their booth?
What if the hokey-pokey is what it is all about?

I'm sure the pop up boutique will be in the vendor's room, open to all. Like H.Naoto's was.

Yes that seems logical....I just thought it was too good to be true! I'm not planning on attending the tea party, but I would love to shop AP style :w00t:

Some pieces cost more than a new car! ;)

I've been lurking on this thread for a while now. A few of my very good friends are all Lolitas, and are all interested in attending this event, and I'm hoping for their success!

That said, Myrla, I know how you feel! I could never afford brand if it's not second-hand. I have only one brand item.

I plan to attend that panel, and I hope we'll see you there! You can definitely learn a whole lot about Lolita fashion by speaking with lolitas directly. We can also recommend some good blogs and threads about becoming a lolita, and about buying second-hand.

Forgive my interruption. Carry on about the tea party, ladies and gents~
