Ok. So I just found out that my submission for a panel was accepted. Awesomeness. So the outline of said panel is basically a first time con goers guide to things at the con. Fun things to do, Where to go for certain events, what things to avoid. I have lots of great ideas planned for this. Think actual information mixed with a comedic style and funny short movies. So if this is your first con, come on down and see this lovely panel.

Well the premesis is simple. It's a first time congoers resource. Do's and don'ts for the new people. Where to go for certain events, fun things to do, best places to eat, what to do in certain situations, etc. I'm open to suggestions but that's what I have so far. I'm in the process of brain storming ideas for the short movies I'll make for it

Really cool Idea. I would also maybe define a lot of things we take for granted at cons. Like what exactly is a panel? What kinds of panels are there? What is the masquerade? I remember when I was a first time con goer I had no idea what stiff stuff was so the day before ACEN I was googling what things were. This hopefully will save a lot of people and help first time con goers see the culture of con life . A Q and A at the end would be nifty too :3 I'm sad I can't be there for it Mag T_T.

Make sure to add some food tips as well. Some things like cup ramen and granola bars simple so simple that people sort of forget.

and water! when the weather gets warm and people are wearing heavy costumes dehydration can become something serious!

I will try to make it the best I can. I want new people to leave this panel with a ton of knowledge and feel ready for all the fun of con

And to stress for people to EAT! Pocky isn't going to be enough fuel for the day! XD Because if you don't eat during the con (like I did expecting that I would just never get hungry, psh yeah right) and I had a massive headache, had to sit down and I was super weak because I didn't eat for 12 hours. Not fun and lesson learned. XD

I mean it depends on your perspective, but yeah especially if you don't eat that nutritious of food as your last meal than yeah. A PBJ sandwich isn't really all that nutritious...and 12 hours later you're pretty weak by then...my blood sugar was so low O.o so my cells were hunting for some glucose . I'll stop now before I get into the biochemistry of it. ;3

Also if you can, you could always make like a pamphlet of tips, Pros and Cons if you have the time at least.

I'd actually encourage congoers to bring a snack to nibble on and something hydrating to drink with them whenever they can. Lines can be terribly long and you don't want to be headache-stricken and lightheaded from not having enough to eat and drink during the weekend.

About five years or so back at Otakon I personally ran into that problem while I was waiting in Yoshiki's autograph line. Hot weather outside (which CAN also happen in April in Chicago!) combined with dehydration and hunger reduced me to a wobbly, crying mess by the end of it all. It was terrible, I felt terrible, and it wasn't until the next day that I was really feeling like myself again.

Great idea for a panel! My suggestion would also be to mention stranger danger for the younger first time con goers. A lot of the younger teens get overly excited about potential friends and tend to hand out their phone numbers like free candy, and go hang out with strangers in unknown hotel rooms and such. ACen is definitely a time for meeting new people and socializing, but don't forget the basics of stranger danger! There are a lot of adult con goers that may be partaking in alcohol and other adult activities, and I always hate hearing about the younger kids getting caught up in that.

Well that is sad. I am by no means a new con goer but I do like these type of panels, be it hearing what other people have to offer or by contributing stories myself.
