Hey all, not sure if this is the place for this or not, but here goes:

I recently heard of an iPhone/Android app called Guidebook (http://www.guidebook.com), and I was wondering if ACen has any plans on making use of the app to create an interactive guide for ACen 2012.

If not, then I would love to see this be made a reality. Guidebook is a free app on Android Marketplace and iTunes Store, and for a moderate price, convention or event organizers can make use of it to develop and distribute a "guide" to their guests and visitors, which serves as a program and schedule, a time planner, a photo organizer, and more. It was used at PAX 2011 last August, and is quickly becoming a key feature of great anime conventions across the U.S.

I would love to see ACen make their presentation even more impressive by making use of this technology to make our lives as congoers that much easier and cooler. As a software developer myself, I can say that this app is one of the most thoughtfully-designed smartphone apps I've ever used, and I think that the benefit to guests would far outweigh the costs of the service. If anything, keep it in mind while going through the process of finalizing the schedule and events roster for this year. With that said, I can't wait for this year's con!

Fantastic! Now, just to clarify, are you using Guidebook for your app, or is it being developed separately or with a different system?

We are using The Guidebook.

Guidebook rocks! You can install it now and do a quick update when ACEN to announces their version. GeekKon used it last year as have a number of other cons. It's interesting to check out other con's guides too.

We are waiting for a few more schedules to be done to make it live. Once we release the app you ad, that guide to your guidebook ap and it will have schedules in it . Its pretty neat so far. It also has useful information in it, like a seconds program guide almost.

Woot, looks like it's live! I've been spreading the news to my friends, and it's really interesting to see a question I posted a month ago suddenly be a reality that my friends are just now discovering. Love you guys!
