Interesting read.

Personally I have seen some fantastic cosplayers who's skin tone wasn't what would be considered 'canon' for their character. Who cares, they looks great and they had fun cosplaying.

Actually I would love to cosplay the character Anthy Himamiya from 'Revolutionary Girl Utena'. She have beautiful dark skin in the series though, and I'm...well...pale as a ghost really. I just wonder if people would think I'm weird for being a white girl cosplaying a dark skinned character.

The skin tone shouldn't matter. This is coming from someone that never cosplays people that "look like" me. I'm short and a girl, but I love cosplaying guys. That in itself is as "inaccurate" as skin color. In the end, it's something that is out of your control and that should never be used as a reason not to cosplay

I personally find the people who criticize due to skin color to be hilarious due to their ignorance. It shows just how inaccurate their knowledge and understanding of the unimportance of skin color is, especially in the field of cosplay. Don't like a black Joker? Make your comment. I'll laugh all the way back to my Ha-Hacienda :D
