At one point or another we have become either the "finder" or the "loser." Growing up one is taught that if the object doesn't belong to you, the object not yours. The polite thing to do is ask before taking and if no one is around then the object is yours correct?

Friday night, I went to check my balance on my CTA card, there was a man already there, looking at the Machine there was a $5 sticking out and I ask him if the $5 was his and he said no. I'm $5 richer. :happydance:

Does finding money at random mean it's yours if no one is to claim? I feel guilty taking money I find.
What is the most you have ever found? The most I ever found was $20 at the same machine but different location.
What is the strangest item you have found? Weed rapped in $1.
Where is the strangest place you found something? The lady's bathroom.

If there's a $5 bill or on the floor outside or a mall and no one else is there to claim it, I think it's yours. If its at a grocery store, store in the mall, or another business facility, I'd say maybe it would be best to give it toa manager because it could very well have been the manager dropping money part of the final deposit or changing money for the register. Yes that person should be more careful but that person could lose their job. Put yourself in their shoes. Bigger bills like $50 or $100 I'd look for a possible person who may have lost it. Money envelopes/wallets I would turn in.

As for possessions even cool ones like an iPhone, watches, portable devices, etc. I think you should turn in. In the past I lost my DS and case with a few games at the McDonalds near ACen. No one ever turned it in. :( I've moved on though. Customers at my work have lost things such as their phones, wallets, etc. I make it a priority to turn lost items in. Also they show great gratitude when you tell them you found it.

Best find for myself ever is $20.

At the airport people lose things all the time. It's either their phone, wallets, plane tickets, technology, and clothing. I seen a few honest people will turn it in, others will either take it with them and claim it as theirs.

If you see someone just drop money or leave their wallet, yes. But if it's like random money on the street no. People will lie in a second to get something for free or to use someone's good nature.

I've lost about....50-100 dollars before, found 40 or so at the most, and besides on the street I haven't really found money in weird places.

I guess I found money in Walgreens before? Would that even count?

If you find money somewhere and there's no 1 around it's just yours, if
you want you can donate the found money to a charity....

I found 2 $20 bills 5-10 feet apart from one another across the street where I worked. It must've been a really windy day.

I'd say if there's a reasonable method of figuring out who owns the item in question, you should turn it into someone/a group of people who the owner would go to in order to retrieve the item. However, if there's no way of knowing who owns the item (like cash on the street) and anyone can claim it, you should ask around to see if anyone dropped it, and then if nobody claims it, then it's rightfully yours. If it's a large quantity of cash (like a few hundred or more) just lying there in scattered bills, that's when things get murky, but if it's like tied up or in a sack or briefcase, then well, I'd turn it in since someone did more likely than not lose it.

The most cash I picked up was a $10 bill while going to pick up my badge at Anime Detour last year. Asked a friend who walked by if he dropped it, and he said no, so I just claimed it since nobody else was around me.

The most valuable item I picked up was a woman's elite Costco membership card at Costco's pharmacy section, which I promptly turned in.

Sometimes companies choose to abandon freight at my job, so it then becomes a free for all. It's kind of like finding stuff, but the people are purposely loosing it. :x

I have repeatedly found peoples ATM cards they left in the machine on the drive up ones.... One person still had an active transaction when I pulled up, just think I could have wiped out their account.. But I am to honest for that, not to mention the camera's in the machines :) I always pull the card, perform my transaction then pull around and turn in the lost card to a teller inside. I still don't understand how people forget a card in a machine though.... I have never left my card anywhere, I swipe it I put it right back and move on.....

The most I have ever found was $40 with no one else around I figured woo hoo free lunch for a week for me :D

While I was cleaning the mini food court area we share with another store, I was sweeping under the chairs when I came across a piece of paper that turn out to be foreign money. I showed my coworker and she said that it was real. Now foreign money one can't return since the owner is long gone.

Once found $60 in the middle of an empty parking lot in the middle of the night while hanging with some friends.

I kept it and didn't tell them about it =w=

Easiest $60 ever made.

As long as it's not a wallet, and you dont' see the person drop the money I say it's all yours. How are you going to find whoever it belongs to? Can't exacalty put up a sign saying "found 20 bucks, come claim it". How would you prove it belongs to that person who claims it?

I found a PSP that a customer left in a shopping cart. I called after the guy & he said I could keep it... Granted he was piss drunk at the time.
