I am wondering who I need to talk to from Table Top Gaming department about holding a Riichi Mahjong workshop as well as a small Tournament for the weekend. I have already sent out several emails to the Table Top Programming email, and I have gotten no responses yet. If possible, Since I am not getting any replies or responses via email, maybe someone here on the forums can help me out? I thank you very much for your time.

I'll poke them about this. I know they've had problems with their email account recently. Sorry for the wait!

If you check out the schedule, there are some "open gaming" spots that I'm sure you could have your games in. Other than that, it might be hard to set up an actual tourney for this. Maybe something could be worked out though. I'll talk to some people and see what I can do...

Last Year when Mark Tassin was DH, he got me a time slot for my Tournament, and supported it. All I need is time and space. I got the boards and the people to run it.

Again, I thank you for all of your help Bloo09. I figured since The Go Club is well established at acen already, why can't a Mahjong Club? Also, my club specializes in Japanese Style Mahjong which is actually pretty big in the Japanese popular culture. Also, the turn out last year was a big success, why not let me return?

You will very likely see me there as one of those who want to learn to play.
Decided not to bring a signature book due to lack of interest.

I'm there. Might bring a friend or two if I can pester them into it. Will probably look around at other times to see if there are any games going on, a chance to play Mahjong in real life is a big part of why I'm coming to ACEN.

Cool cool.

As for these friends. If they don't know how to play, they can go to the mahjong panel tomorrow. And, there will be teaching tables too.

Mahjong-wise.

Anime Central has been a great experience. I had gone a total of 7-8 times to Anime Central, by which I had skipped the past 2 years. It was under the assumption of never going back. But alas, this game of mahjong pulled me right back into the convention. Why? Because it's the best place (and opportunity) to gather up people for this game, especially new and unmet people.

Panel-wise. I counted 45 people or so attending the Introduction panel. With 2 others among the Chicago club, we managed to squeeze our presentations within the 1 hour alloted time. I didn't like that 1 hour time constraint; but at least, got to show the game to a fairly large group of people. Personally, I did not feel that I had done a great job here piquing interest among people. But, I'll be able to do a better job next time, with a different focus and approach.

As for the mahjong gaming session itself. We had 8 tables setup, with only 7 mahjong sets to use. Through the course of the 6 hour playing session. All 7 tables have been filled throughout. Even when people had to leave, more people would show up. New people. People who have played some kind of mahjong. Etc.

As for the tournament, we got ourselves a champion. However, gonna have to do a little bit of write-up here.
