Lucy's Helmet materials?

So I want to cosplay as Lucy from Elfen Lied (in case you don't know her) and I have already designed what I want my costume to be, but I want to wear her full helmet as part of her costume since I feel it's an important part of the cosplay I want to pull off.

I was wondering what would be a good material to attempt to make this full helmet with...I just want something that can maybe breathe and that I'll be able to alter so I can see out of it too. I don't have a budget really but cheaper things are always better ^_^. But there is so many materials out there and I just don't know what is good and what is the best to make a helmet with this that I can actually wear for a long time and all. Thanks guys ^_^.

polyurethane foam board
like thick foamies
maybe
it can heat heat formed into shape
but the hard part is youll have to dart it cleanly
