As cosplayers, we're all aware that snow, mud, Chicago winter, and bare legs don't mix. Therefore, we are looking into as many indoor venues/back-up places as possible that will provide the space, lighting, and atmosphere you all know and love.
My current questions to all of you:
In case of adverse and fair weather, how far would you be willing to walk to get to a gathering?
Approval pending, would you be interested in anything taking place at the new shops that will be opening up the weekend before ACen?
Is there any other place that is indoors or outdoors that you would like to see considered for holding gatherings?

Too bad we really can't take over that lobby area of the convention center. On some days the lighting in there is gorgeous, I've gotten some really lovely quick shots of individual cosplayers in there. But a big group would just be a hazard
I hadn't even thought of the new shops, that's a really good idea! I was just thinking of them as potential food sources
One place I have found good for gatherings is the fountains in the drop-off circle at the convention center. It's outdoors, so not as useful in the cold but it's covered in the event of rain.

How about just having a couple of rooms available for gatherings instead of panels in case of bad weather? I know the Embassy has a few larger rooms that can fit allot of people, and that way it would not be taking up panel room space at the Hyatt. Though I hope the weather will be nice enough for outdoor pictures
