Just wanted to give folks the heads up that our panel, "Violence, Sex, and Death: The Films of Takashi Miike" makes its triumphant return this coming Anime Central. We ran the panel back in 2009 to a packed room, turned away over 100+ attendees, and really had a great time. This year we're hoping for bigger space and an even bigger turnout! Expect full discussion on Miike's entire filmography and more to come. Would love to hear from people on here what films they would really like to see discussed outside of Ichi the Killer and Audition. Remember, Miike has made 70+ films!

I was there in 2009 and it was such a small room but we had tons of fun! I'm glad to see your return.

Thanks! We originally were supposed to have a room that could accommodate 175 people but got switched to a room with a capacity of 68 people after some programming space conflict or something. It was unfortunate to turn away so many fans (and to not have the proper audio hardware we requested) but I have a feeling we won't be running into those issues this coming ACen.

Hope to see you there!

Please do! Feel free to make any suggestions of films you'd like to see covered, too!

I am very much looking forward to this. As a fellow panelist, I actually joked w/ the panel DH asking NOT to be scheduled against you, lol. But I've already told you that I'll be there.

Hey thanks! I remember talking to quite a few folks that year in the smokers pit. Yes, this year we should have a room that can fit I believe 200-250 people. Much better than 68 max!

I just saw noticed this on the acen website the other day. Im super excited! Miike is my favorite director of all time! II'll totally be attending and I'm really looking forward to it! My favorite Miike movie movie is Crows Zero soooo some discussion on that would be cool? Maybe go over his yakuza films cause there are quite a lot of them DOA, Full Metal Yakuza, Deadly Outlaw Rekka, etc or maybe controversies with his films like Imprint being banned on Showtime for being too disturbing. I dunno. Anything Miike is bound to be awesome!

It won't do any good to delude myself, because even if the distance between us is less than a touch, it is my destiny that I will never have what I long for.

Or The Taint.

LOL. A Serbian Film, while it includes violence, sex and death is not Miike...

As i_like_kyos mentioned, this is a panel about film director Takashi Miike and his work. I've seen both A Serbian Film and The Taint, but they really have no place in a specific panel such as this one. Still, if you're into films such as those, you should come out to my panel as I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. It's looking like the maximum amount of seats available for the panel are 105 so please make sure you get in line early if you're planning on coming out to this panel. Also remember there are TWO Takashi Miike panels this year. Mine is the one on Friday night! ^_^
