I'm so excited! My Amy Pond cosplay is done. I'm going as "Day of the Moon" Amy with the awesome flannel and hashmarks. Woo! I'm working on my wig. The one I got was too orange, but I'm using my dying skills to naturalize it. It's turning out fantastic. I need an 11 and/or a Rory to pose with!

We will just be going to the Friday one Saturday we have the Homestuck photoshoot to go to, and because of the makeup we can't change, so it'll just be Friday!

Looks like the Friday shoot will be big! I'm so happy since I can't do the Saturday shoot. Romana went over... not as well as expected at a sci-fi con that generally has at least three or four Doctor Who panels. I mean, some people got it and liked it, but quite a few people, even after I told them who I was, said, "Oh, it's nice there's more anime stuff this year." 0.o Apparently, they thought I was Sailor Moon because of the color scheme.

Also, though I'm not generally a glomper, I did glomp a 4th Doctor who had absolutely no clue who I was at first, and when I explained, he said, "I've only seen one Fourth Doctor episode."

Here's hoping for a better showing at ACEN! Oddly enough, we've done better with our sci-fi costumes at anime cons than sci-fi cons anyway. Dragon*Con included.

Aww! Sorry to say, but if it's not really popular or current, most sci-fi fans just won't know about it. The new series is helping but most new fans now want all the info in 1 lump sum/story. Sad but true.....
I can assure you we'll have not only a great turnout, but all of us will be Whovians/Gallifreyians of some nature! We always have a blast with the shoot. Heck I've only started watching about 2 years ago & was welcomed into the shoot with open arms! I think the idea of "The Doctor & his companion(s) exploring the event" theme is what works best! And besides, think of all the wonderful poses & crossvovers you're going to see!

I saw a really good Amy cosplay at the bar party a couple weeks ago. It was the outfit from The Impossible Astronaut, only with the slash marks all across her face and body. It's not entirely accurate but it looked really cool. If I had more time before Acen I'd try and put it together for the Saturday shoot but Acen is like, two weeks away. The wig would be the only problem, especially since I'm trying to save money haha.

It just looked so awesome though.

Okay, the final piece of my Rose cosplay finally came in the mail today so I can let our a breath of relief.

Also my work has a plaid shirt similar to the one in The Impossible Astronaut for five bucks so I had to buy it. I'm going to stop at the party store near my house to see if they have any reasonably priced wigs that would work for Amy. If I can put it together in time I'll be Rose at the Friday shoot an Amy at the Saturday one.

My husband has decided to be the Second Doctor for the Friday shoot! I'm pretty darned happy about this development because he looks mega adorable in the costume. He's been putting it together for a while and finally decided to restyle one of his old wigs for it. I'm going to be Jamie McCrimmon (and probably the least accurate costume I've EVER done) for a while with him early in the day. But I'll still be Romana for the shoot.

Hey you guys, I needed an opinion. Rose is blonde and I'm not, so my eyebrows are dark brown/black. Should I go through the hassle of dying them to match the wig? I feel like it would be difficult to dye them a lighter color, but I feel like something about me looks off in the cosplay...though I'm not sure if that's just because this is the first character I've cosplayed that is not animated. I don't have Billie Piper's face.

As for the Amy cosplay I was contemplating, the shirt I thought would work has a design flaw. It's much longer and more loose fitting than I thought. I just don't like the way it looks for the cosplay. Maybe I'm picky but it just bothers me. Plus searching down a wig last minute just adds more stress to my life, so my current plan is Rose Friday and Saturday for the shoots and I'm going to wear the casual not-quite-Amy cosplay without the wig on Sunday, just because I'm only there until noon and it will be comfy in the car haha.

We're not that formal or judgy about that so don't worry!! Just come as screen acurate as possible & enjoy yourself!

@KnitChick - He wanted to but got no response when he asked on GBfans whether there would be any other GBs at ACEN. If I tell him some people want to see his gear, he'd probably find time to wear it.

I'm thinking of breaking out my uniform Thurs evening and maybe for a bit on Saturday. It will all depend if I'm doing department head duties this year or not (it's up in the air). A couple of the other guys from my team are coming, but I don't think they'll be in gear. But if he comes by the Special Needs office during the day Fri or Sun when I'm in there he will definitely hear a loud squee and be stopped for a photo. That's always a guarantee!
