I love planning ahead, and even though I don't seem it, am a very orderly person. So, I feel like a moron, because I had a lineup of cosplays I wanted to do, then a couple things changed as I looked at finances...

Fine, whatever, things change. It's cool.

So I got a new lineup.
Best friend and I fought, I left that cosplay group.

Erm... sorry, Hetalia photoshoot. You'll be one France short. You've got a bajillion more.

Ok. I've still got my Deadman Wonderland and Kuroshitsuji and Vocaloid.
Then I discovered a cooler Vocaloid.

Ok, yeah, yeah... things change. So what if I already posted in the vocaloid meetup that I'd be a different Vocaloid? (twice...)
They'll forgive me, right?

Boyfriend wants me to be Yuna. Bye-bye, Drocell... so much for that ridiculously expensive box and hat I made.

Whatever, he's very good to me, and it's weird if his new-ish girlfriend looks like a boy when he introduces her to all his con friends. I can sacrifice for that. Drocell can wait until Halloween or something.

Boyfriend... might not want me to be Yuna?

*TABLE. FLIP.*

Of course, through all this, I've been posting excitedly in the forums, thinking my plans to be mostly set-ish, and then I have to delete the text and feel like an idiot when they change...
Anyways, has this ever happened to you? (the whole rotating cosplay thing, not the table flipping. Though, if your cosplay plans changing made you flip a table, go ahead an share that)
Is it happening now to you?
How do you keep from ripping your hair and wig wefts out?

Are you a deadman?

This happens to me a lot! Especially since I'm new at cosplaying, and my mom thinks its ridiculous to work on more than one at a time. There's many characters I go back and forth to. One example's Yui Hirasawa from K-On! I love Yui, and I'm a bit like her, except I'm better in school than she is. I really want to cosplay her, but I keep going back and forth on reasons why I should and shouldn't.

I also go through quick and obsessive phases. I get hooked on something for a while then I'll stop. (i.e. me recently saying I want to cosplay Ciela from Phantom Hourglass)

Though, I'm determined to stick with Sakura (like in my signature) but I will also try to find maybe another simple cosplay to stick to as well.

This might happen to me because of a lack of job. I am suppose to find a job before the start of 2012 and it's not looking good so far. I'm getting turned down due to a background and it's going to be the point that my mom has to pay for everything since my unemployment runs out the start of the year.

I can't go back to school because for some reason my credit is bad because of a past loan I paid off two years ago that doesn't clear til 2012.

I was going to be CD Russia for the Hetalia shoot but it might be canceled because of lack of money. I still want to do the MC from Desu 2 but that might be canceled due to lack of money too. I found out that I can't make his bunny hoodie on my own, so I need it commissioned.

OP, you could just....do what you want to do. Don't let your friends/family/loved ones/mate influence your cosplays. Don't listen to your indecisive for cosplay bf and so what if you and your friend got into a fight? If you want to do Hetalia then fine and if you want to do Vocaloid then do that.

Also have backups. I thought that instead of doing Russia, I was going to do Kida from Drrr and instead of doing the MC, I was going to do Adachi. This way you don't have to make a brand new cosplay each time.

Woah, I am majorly sorry to hear that things have been knocking your plans around so much. It is just awful that friends/boyfriends would result in the taking away of something you were looking forward to! If not having a group is keeping you from pulling out something you spent time and money on, look around here for a group to hang with. I found one of the coolest people in the world by doing that. Be safe, obviously, but it is not out of the realm of possibility.
As for not going as Drocell because you think your boyfriend's people won't like seeing you dressed as a guy, screw them! This is Acen and cosplay and fun! You don't need to impress people. You have to do that every other day of your life. If you like the character and already spent money and time on the costume, don't let someone else talk you out of it.

I have that cosplay indecision too lol! I cannot count how many times I almost went as Sailor Mercury. I never bought the costume but had the links for all the props and costume saved and the money set aside pretty often.
In other cases, I buy a costume long before the con then get tired of it by the time the con comes around. There is just something exciting about having a new costume that is like, new new.
Finances ruining cosplay adventures? Ohhh yeah...

If only all cosplayers could be rich!
Cosplaying As:

-Shindo Shuichi [Gravitation]
-Hiroki Kamijo [Junjou Romantica]
-Ritsuka Aoyagi [Loveless]
-Ciel Phantomhive [Kuroshitsuji]
-Rio Takeuchi [Spiral Suiri no Kizuna]
-Jyou [Exist Trace]

Haha, that mostly came up as a rationalization to give up the cosplay I was planning to do for the one he really wanted me to do. It was really just an issue of timing. Some people are ok with a bajillion costume changes, but I'm not one of them. I will put a cosplay on in the morning, and that cosplay will stay on me unless I run into a Like-Like with a taste for crossplayer!
Anyways, Yuna's off the table now, because I normally have shortish brown hair, so I refuse to have short brown wigs on hand, but I'm going to cut it shorter and dye it blonde for a musical, and it won't be back to normal by ACen, even with my superhuman hair growing abilities.
As for the group thing... I considered that, but Hetalia is a really scary fandom if you don't already know the people. It's like... really scary. especially for someone as secretly shy as I am! I'd also be a terrible France if I'm not really comfortable with the people I'm around. Like... France with the bravery of Latvia and the loquaciousness of Japan.
Finances have been a killer, sinc eI'm also trying to finance a Senior Adventure. I'm super excited, though, since I have wigs for 3/4 of the cosplays, and I'll have the fourth once I send back the mistake wig and order a different one.

~sigh~
this is all to common
a planed cosplay from a "group/clan/team" of 4 or more is rare
and the attention span to commit to long term goals despite change of interest over multiple projects
with the ability to follow through aka money ... uhh not many groups i know

large groups typically form with a large and ravenous fan base for as long as popularity holds
past examples: death note, naruto, hitalia
current trends: my little pony, home stuck

sure enough there will be groups who manage to pull off the whole cast
and alt versions
but come next fall the ADD will kick in and the new groups will form

i learned not to invest heavily onto plans past 6 months
and to only work with the most reliable ppl
it can be a tight time line and a lot of work come the con
but with construction cost run $700-$1300 including the moving truck rental
its a bit pricey for about 30 second of stage time
just to have one handler have a change of heart

rrr sry ranting
the point is ya dont need a group to have fun cosplaying
even normal cosplays are a lot of money to unhappy with your character
just to fit into a group
but most of my time is sent doing whatever i please
ive never had to have a matching outfit to hang out with my friends
maybe its different for guys

This year my friend and I were both gonna do pokemon on friday, then scythe weilding characters on saturday..[deadmaster from black rock shooter for me. ]
But then, I read through my schools calender.....
Prom is that Friday. That was fine and dandy to me, I'm not going. Neither my bf or I want to go.
But my friend does, since it's our senior year. OTL
So now, she's going only Saturday, and I will be going both still..
So I had to change my plans not only for that, but the car I will probably be taking now will not be able to fit a scythe in it.
So now Mio friday, Umbreon saturday.
I guess I'm happier this way, but it was so much stress for awhile it's not funny. >.>;
Cosplay plans for 2012;
Friday: Mio - k-on
Saturday: Shiny Umbreon - Pokemon Mio Rave outfit...Probably.

d'accord. My indeciciveness must end, or I may implode. This is my first time cosplaying, and I have this irrational need to make sure everything is perfect. My indecision is giving me whiplash. :(

The Forumcat, I know your pain. I have a small group, including family, that I do cosplay with. However there's always issues behind these things. My sister only likes to to one or two cosplays, my dad likes doing mostly only from shows he likes and is comfortable with (Venture Brothers), and my friends...one is not going this year but tends to like to do cosplay that she prefers, and wants to do cosplay with her boyfriend, one is a guy but is just a bit taller then me and never is sure what he wants to do, and the last is his girlfriend and one of my best friends, who has a hard time keeping cash on her and winds up moaning about no cosplay.

I'm also a perfectionest. I like having things exactly as I want them to be, this includes my cosplay. I have a hard time choosing because there are so many cosplays I want to do and it takes me forever to get my cosplay exact due to time and I have no car with which to travel around in, plus some major responsiblities, so yeah...I share your pain in the indecissiveness department.

Happens so much. Not this year luckily, but this year was a big draw-back on cosplay in general. But before that, plans just continuously change! It was ridiculous! Sometimes I would accientally make too many promises of "Oh yeah, I'd totally cosplay this person from this series with you" that it becomes impossible and I end up, well, having to tell people I'm sorry for not getting the costume done/ready for a con T_T

I have the other side of this problem. a few weeks before con and suddenly, I HAVE AN IDEA~~ for a cosplay. So there I go, making it, and then I realize I already have 3 costumes coming with me... But I don't want to stop once I've started and I wanted to bring it with me (As ACen is the only AnimeCon I attend), so this year, I'll have an unpresidented (At least for myself) 4 costumes...
