I had some pretty good ideas for Acen2012, but now I have changed my mind to something more covered & warm. Just curious to see if anyone else has changed their cosplay ideas. I predict it will still be cold here around April.

I honestly don't think it'll be that cold....at least I thought it was going to be in the 70s, but I agree with you about the plans changing, I'm cosplaying summer uniform Rin this winter, sticking to it...but I will be freezing XD

Nah, not really. for Khun and Takara I'll automatically have short sleeves on so I'm definitely bringing a jacket if I get too cold, but for Shirashi it can go either way (with or without jacket/pants) and Oichi (blazer is a part of her uniform) I don't need to.

I hope it won't be too cold :(

Eh. We've had ACens in the past in the first week of May; 5-7 days earlier in the last days of April won't make much a difference. Perhaps 2 degrees cooler to the low 70s, & mayhaps 5% odds more of rain (though we're already nigh guaranteed rain Friday/Saturday of ACen, based of a decade's trend). At any rate, if weather takes a turn for the cooler, it simply means I won't overheat as Ocarina of Time Link, what with the leggings and long-sleeved undertunic.

On the bright side, if it IS colder, perhaps this means we'll see less people walking around in glorified underwear for three days? (One can only hope....)

Also a headsup for cosplays that show skin: If you worry you'll be cold with bare arms or legs or what have you, grab a pair of sheer pantyhose. Wear it under a skirt & no one will be any wiser; to wear it under your shirt/for your arms, cut the lined crotch and toes/heel out & you automatically have a sheer shirt that looks like (and still shows your) flesh. I say sheer rather than generalized scaled flesh-tone since sheer shows your natural skintone best & looks more natural -- and is usually the easiest to find in department stores (more expensive than Walmart, yeah, but better quality & really looks a ton better).

I'm cosplaying as characters that have warm enough clothing, with the exception of Panty, so i should be fine. Plus i've always been more tolerant of chilly weather as opposed to really warm weather.

No. Chicago weather changes so it could be very hot or raining in April.

All you can really do now is guess or have a variety of layers for cosplays, as well as backups.

I'm still going to have heavy outfits since I only like when it's in the 90s-100s, otherwise I'm cold.

I've cosplayed characters that wear short sleeves and shorts in Jan and long sleeves and pants and a coat in late May, lol. I tend to just cosplay whatever I feel like cosplaying regardless of the weather. Occasionally I'll be a bit chilly/too hot, but it's never been so bad that I've regretted it, so I don't bother to change my plans.
Cosplay for ACen 2012:

-yes I had skirt moments outside with the wind-

I probably won't. I usually don't get freezing very easily until December when the snow and icy winds come out. I'll most likely be indoors most of the time anyway. I love going to panels!

Chicago weather is tricky, but I think I'll be fine.

I am going as Link too! (well, female version). I was originally going to do Ibuki from Street Fighter but now doing Link, yay. The white leggings are gonna help me out.

If it's cold, I'll be fine - I'm going to be wearing sweatpants and a long-sleeved shirt as part of my cosplay, so I'm sure I'll be plenty warm.
If it's hot...well, the sleeves can be rolled up until I need them, and I can always remove the veil I'll be wearing until it's necessary.

I'm hoping for the just-right temperature, with no rain, a little wind, and some clouds to keep it from getting too hot on the walks to get food. XD

I agree that layers are important. For my graduation a few years ago in the western suburbs in the first week of June it was in the 30's and snowed. So while looking good is nice staying well is more important. Just be prepared, and be flexible.

My plans wont change. I think April weather for next year will be just fine. I'd say it will be in the upper 50s - 60s, with some rain.

Ugh... I'm cosplaying as Will of the Abyss from Pandora Hearts and man, she wears a sleeveless top and a skirt. Including her back robe thing and a huge ribbon... If it's gonna rain, that's bad luck for me since I will be wearing white and I don't like mush...

My Friday cosplay should be pretty warm, since I will be wearing about 3 layers of clothing although I will have sandals on. My Saturday and Sunday cosplay though is going to consist of shorts, and an open shirt :/ I just hope that it doesn't rain or anything.

Not at all. My Motoko cosplay is pretty hot because of the pleather jacket XD. And if I do cosplay Lucy this year, I still won't mind if it it's kinda cold. It's all part of the experience. :3

All of my costumes will be warm except for Princess Uranus and Mai. Otherwise, I'm good. Hopefully it won't be too cold.

Personally I prefer it being colder than last year. I got baked on the first and second days! But I have made some changes to my cosplay list for 2012. With the big 'claws' on one of them, wearing a jacket would be difficult. I'd probably hang around inside most of the time if it's too cold for me. :T

All of my costumes are decently covered. I have to wear a school girl skirt twice, but both costumes require sweater tops. Also my Esther cosplay is layered and usually very warm so I'm not too worried about being chilly. I usually hate getting overheated more than being a little cold, at least when you're cold you can gather in a group or go inside somewhere.

My cosplays, thankfully, have decently warm clothes. Mio has a jacket[though with the skirt I have to wear, my legs may be a bit chilly. At least I have knee socks!], and I'm wearing a hoodie for my umbreon. Woot! But I really hope it doesn't rain. Last year it literally only rained as we were getting out of the car and had to walk from the parking lot down the street...My friends poor hair went straight, after I had spent 45 minutes curling it and styling it for her. Cosplay plans for 2012;
Friday: Mio - k-on
Saturday: Shiny Umbreon - Pokemon Mio Rave outfit...Probably.
