So this is gonna be my first ever Con. and I want to go all out. The main problem being, I have a build that doesn't fit really any anime characters that I know. I'm 6'4" 330lbs though most wouldn't guess i weigh that much cause it's spread out, i'm just all around big. also i have an afro and an epic beird (It reaches the top of my shirt right now but should be a bit longer by the time of the con) lol. I dont mind cutting the hair, in fact i usually buzz it all off around the beginning of spring anyway, but the beard I like. about the only things i could think of would be to go as a random* Akimichi ninja from naruto (due to the beard*) not set on that but the Shippuden Choji is the only anime character i could think of that matches my build. but ya, any segestions would be much apreciated, cause well choices and the potential multiple costumes for different days would rock.

Just go as any character you would like to cosplay as, dont worry about being perfect.

Don't worry about being the "perfect" build to cosplay. Just have fun with it. :)

Oh, yay!
I hope you have a blast. ^^

But I have to agree- just have fun with it. Be the character you want to be, not what your body shape fits. ^^

I don't know what else to really put here....
So have a nice day. ^^

oooh.... I just got done reading the acen rules for props, i have an advantage. I'm 6'4" I can make a full size Wolfwood cross/gun thingy he had. Think I might have to look into making a trigun outfit. It was my first anime after all (i dont count pokemon and digimon, i was a lil kid, i didn't understand they were different than american cartoons lol) ok, so last question in this thread i swear :D Where would be a good place to start looking for trigun costume designs/props? this is gonna be my first attempt at cosplaying as well XD

If you are going to make it yourself, it's best to figure out what materials you might need as well as the cost.

If you need commission, then it's best to either ask here or cosplay.com in the commission section. You can always try Ebay as well.

Off hand I don't know anyone who would do That kind of prop.

Also ideas could be:

FMA peeps (A big Roy mustang, Post FMA version?) Greed, Armstrong, Pride.
Anyone from Trigun
Anyone from Fist of the northstar
A very big and tall Vincent from FF7 series or Shadow from FF6
Kanji from Persona 4

Those are just random ideas put out there but whatever cosplay you decide that's fine with you, is fine with you.
ACEN 2013 Cosplay:
Hero from SMT: DS2, Emmet/Kudari from Pokemon Black and White, Green from Pokemon Red/Blue/BW2/ MAYBE: Ivan from T&B.

All the random avatars this time are from LJ and I don't own any of them. Some of the avatars are credit to aristocracy, Taku ♫ arthursandwich, noxjustxnoin, imperial-code, dojicons, narrante, and some of them are credit to ushitora_icons at LJ.

Currently into and playing: All Megaten games, Blazblue series. Waiting for: Pokemon B and W 2, Tales of Grace F, P4MU.

Ciao e benvenuto al forum e la comunitá ACEN!

Don't worry about having a perfect cosplay or not--as long as you are happy with your costume that is all that counts. But it would be awesome to see you as Wolfwood with that HUGE prop! I'd get a pic from you for sure!!! ^_^ And Trigun is amazing. XD

This will be my first con too and i am 6'1" and 285lb so i had the same problem u do i am goin as choji akimichi from shippuden in Naruto, but i go with what everyone else says go there as who you want to be. If you are worried about how you are built, you could try checking Asuma Sarutobi he is also from Naruto and he might fit your built better.

It's my first acen as well, but I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum. I'm 5'4" and i only way 98lbs. which means i cant donate blood. Which kinda sucks 'cause i'm a universal donor. sorry... I tend to ramble. But I really do want to donate blood. and then get one of those little juice boxes that they give you, I dont know, I just feel like I'm missting out. Yeah...I'm weird. :)

Regarding building the cross, first don't use wood or any heavy materials, you'll be carrying that around all day. I would suggest the foam you can find at the hardware store. It's solid, and shapeable, but easy to use and light. Also, as weird as this will sound, look into how some churches build their crosses for easter pagents to see how the plans would go. Images of the cross can be useful and then carefully trace it out. Also figure how much foam you will need, and acryic or spraypaint, and details, even if you don't make a perfect cross the details make it stand out. Look into a cheap backpack or messenger bag you can cut and either nail in, or hot glue, or staple on so you can sling it over yourself. Most important...make sure it's comfortable.

If you are going to go as Wolfwood and want to make a prop I can suggest a few things as one of my guy friends cosplayed as him.

You can make the cross gun out of shoeboxes.... kid you not. He taped and nailed them together to somehow make it disassemble and then we all helped him drape about 2 or 3 sheets over them all and kept them all in place with old black leather goodwilled belts!! It turned out fabulous and since the draped stuff was on there no one knew it was actually shoeboxes XD.

^that is freaking amazing. O.O I will keep this in mind if I run across people wanting to make Wolfwood's cross.

As to devilmoor, most of the people replying to this thread have the right idea. Go with what you want. Cosplay is about having fun and getting in touch with your inner character. Wolfwood sounds like an awesome jump-start to your cosplay beginnings, and it is fairly simple to accomplish (minus the props, which isn't as difficult, as say, a sword.)

Additional costumes you might be interested in doing (but would take some time, sewing skills, whatnot):
Oogie Boogie (not really anime, but big and tall is the name of his game)
And if you wanna really go oldschool and win some hearts, Jigen from Lupin III. <3
