I'm not staff, this is not official, but I just called this morning to check to see if the Embassy block was open and they booked my room for the weekend. (847) 678-4000

You know its not officially open yet.
If you get a room, they may book you one without the room block, so double check.

I usually check the Hotel Information if its there or not. I know that the Hyatt hasn't sold out yet but usually you have to wait till a staff member or head of operations say that the embassy block is open cause the overflowing hotels are not listed yet.

First off, the mods don't have this information. They only manage the forums. I tried to get a hold of one of the people in charge of the hotel room blocks to no avail. Because I could not get a response from one of the responsible parties, I am overstepping my bounds and telling you reliable, but unofficial, information regarding the Embassy Suites block:
The contract has been completed, but was not supposed to officially go live until the first of November. On the first, information on the room block was set to be posted with its official opening. However, in preparation for the room block opening, Embassy Suites needs to set the rates and open reservations in their system. That is what has occurred. Since their reservation system now has the contracted rates and dates, reservation are able to be made in the system under our room block. In essence, the Embassy Suites room block is not officially announced, but is in a soft roll-out state (i.e., open but not announced). If you call in and reserve now, it will be in the correct room block for ACen.
Like I said, I'm overstepping my bounds by telling you this, but I figured it was more important for you to know what is going on than to have to guess at it. To the H/CSR team, sorry for releasing this information early - you can yell at me later.

yep. the base rate is on single or double occupancy. after that there is an additional charge per person

I do not recommend waiting if you want a double bed room. Call in your reservation. Don't wait for the online reservations to become available.

Room Rates will be up by this evening, but the Block doesn't officially open until Nov 1st, so don't expect to see a weblink until then. This goes for the DT as well.

Alright I'm going to call them now then. EDIT: Rate is one 185 per night.
@LordCanti: Few posts up and previous threads stated that it wasn't suppose to open til the 1st. I'm guessing the staff wanted to help out the more impatient people? I'm not saying you wrong but confused people in the past have swore up and down that they had the block and the find out they didn't because it wasn't open yet.

I couldn't say for certain, but Embassy Suites and DoubleTree O'Hare were negotiated together as they are managed by the same company. I believe both hotels were set to be announced on Nov. 1st. There is a good chance that if you call their reservation line, you'll be able to reserve under the ACen block.
