Speed Dating with a Twist

Something new for 2012. Speed dating with a twist!!! While meeting a variety of people from the opposite sex, each participant will also have to solve a murder that occurs during the panel. Two culprits have teamed up to "kill" a fellow guest and it is up to everyone to figure out who did it. For shy participants, this is a great way to meet new people. Some questions will be suggested to initiate conversations, and whoever is the first person to guess a murderer correctly wins a prize!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Acen had something similar and the issue was the lack of participation, age issues, and a majority of men>women.
ACen 2013 Cosplay:

All the random avatars this time are from LJ and I don't own any of them. Some of the avatars are credit to aristocracy, Taku ♫ arthursandwich, noxjustxnoin, imperial-code, dojicons, narrante, dino-cookie, shiroyuki_kun, takerzmuse, and ushitora_icons at LJ. I DON'T OWN ANY OF THE ICONS.


Currently into and playing: All Megaten games, Blazblue series, and P4MU. Waiting for: Pokemon BW2 and BB3.

Well, if approved, I am going to try to make it an even number, first come first serve (if over-abundance of men), and organize the ages. Also, I asked the staff to provide an interesting prize. If they are able to do it, I'm sure we can get a good number of both boys and girls.

If people are interested in doing just one or the other, I can talk to the panel organizers and do just the murder mystery if people prefer it?

You'd have more chance with just the mystery part.

You are assured of scaring the girls off if you add the "speed dating" lol

also i think some of the speed dating thing might be a little sketchy with "The Creepy Con goer" type deal and people starting to think and pay attention. "hopefully"

There should be at the maximum 2 creeper rule enacted. You hand out forms with a series of questions on them prior to the event. Some questions could even go as...

1) Are you a creeper?

2) You sure 'bout that?

Well won't be too much a problem since most girls know to stay away, and the smart guys know if they just start a random conversation with a girl respectfully at the con, then it'll work A LOT better then speed dating. lol (It's not exactly hard to get a girl to talk to you at acen.....)

Someone needs to do THAT panel. lol "Talking to girls isn't rocket science"

Tho I say we cut some slack and make it 3. That way there'd be an even 4 people at the speed dating.

Not trying to discourage, but I think the two ideas likely work better alone. The point of speed dating is to meet as many people as possible in little timing (like 1-2 minute intervals.) Adding the murder mystery case would kind of over-complicate that aspect and then you'll be busy trying to figure out who the murderer is (Col. Mustard?) I give you credit for ingenuity and if you make it work, then you rock, but I would suggest one panel or the other if it were me (murder mystery sounds fun though, I'd like to unmask someone Scooby Doo style.)

Agrees with STVO. But I hope that it works out for you! I like talking to random people at Acen, its really nice, and people are more open than you think. You definitely meet great people in the Soap Bubble line...that long wait to get in.. i swear you'll form a bond with the people around you, haha.
