So this proposed panel (if we get accepted) would be about the Japanese directer Takashi Miike. His works currently span 82 movies, a late-night tv show, and multiple stints directing children's television. He is most known for films like Ichi the Killer, Audition, Dead or Alive, Sukiyaki Western Django, and Yatterman. The breadth of his work is rather astounding as it includes horror, lots of yakuza films, comedies, children's films, and even musicals. Given that the goal of this panel would be to give an overview of his films with examples in different categories and to give a discussion of his recurrent themes. I've got a deep love of cinema in general and if this gets picked out (here's to hoping!) then I would like to share some of the awesomeness of Miike. He's just such a fun, unique directer in this day and age. I've also thought of doing a different panel about the resurgence of gore filled Japanese B-cinema ala Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police. That being said I'm taking this as my focus but I'd be up for helping do another panel on Japanese films. I just feel like live action stuff gets overlooked outside of the occasional kaiju or super sentai panel (not that these aren't awesome). This will be 18+ as there really isn't a way to get around how disturbing quite a few of his films are.

His movies are pretty messed up but I would heavily consider going to this panel! I would have some friends that would too! Good luck!

I just watched Tokyo Ggore Police with a group of my friends and it was amazingly funny.

Man, I think Imprint should be one especially mentioned, especially since it was one of his most terrifying works that has never been broadcasted in the U.S. (but I think it should!) =D
