The issue is, that I have quite a bit of stuff to figure out how to make, and even a couple of details that I haven't quite figured out. This is actually probably going to wind up not just being about epaulettes.
Anyways, I want to make a pair of slightly metallic pleather-y epaulettes with a rather short fringe. I'd also like to put the Love is War flaming heart on them, but will likely do that with some sort of paint or permanent ink/dye. I suppose they wouldn't be true epaulettes, since I need them to be at least somewhat flexible, but it's the closest word to what they are that I could come up with. I was kind of hoping that they could have padding of some sort inside, so long as it doesn't make them look like dumb little pillows.
I have no idea how to go about this beyond buying some silver cloth.
- how would I make them so the seam isn't horribly ugly?
- is there some sort of padding that would be essentially flat?
- how should I connect the fringe? (It will either be a pre-made fringe or, if I can figure out how, a fringe made from the same material)
- any suggestions on what to use to put the design on them?
In case it's necessary to know, the epaulettes will need to have snaps on the bottom, as they are to be used to connect sleeves to the rest of the coat. I can illustrate this idea better later, if needed.
