hey, this year will be my first time at the hyatt, i can't wait for the madness party and stuff and being right there, but i need some info about the hotel, namely normal 2 full size beds rooms.

food question, will there be s fridge that is not full with 20$ cans of beer and nutsor will there be a open fridge, also is there a microwave so i can cook up some popcorn, hot pockets, and other foods to save the trip to MCD or a pizza.

that all i need to know right now.

From personal experience:

No fridge.

No micowaves.

Do have a coffeemaker for hot water 1 cup at a time. But sometimes they hide it, or you have to ask for one. I did once when for some reason there wasn't one...

Some rooms come with the mini bar in it, which would be the $20 cans of beer thing lol, but you can request that they lock that when you arrive. Also, the room doesn't come with an empty fridge but you can call and request one for your room, and of course it costs extra. I found these things out when I called about a fridge yesterday. ^_^ Hope this helps!

I do not know anything about a microwave; sorry.

^ That's what we did. And it worked well. Or you could use your bathtub as a cooler and put lots of ice in it and when you take a shower your feet get reallllllllly coooooooooooold. :3 not that I would know from experience. NOOO! *looks away*.

But you do have to pay for using the fridge. They tried to charge me for it, but I was like "I'm not using it" so they locked it or something so I didn't pay anything.

Coolers are your friend. I remember one year a friend of mine brought a cooler stuffed with bread, cheese, and lunchmeat. Turned out pretty good, too!

I also recommend eating as healthy as possible - a few of us at Geek.Kon made a grocery run that Thursday night, and tried to buy as many healthy things as we could. (Not easy, when you have a team of ~20 people, with tastes varying from sweet tooth to hollow leg to vegan, AND a McDonald's and Denny's within easy walking distance.) We didn't do half bad, either - baby carrots, wheat bread, whole grain white bread, clementine oranges, crackers, and some granola bars, among other things.

Come up with the right combination of foods, and you can feed yourself pretty well during the course of the con. :)

Pretty much what everyone else has said. As far as food, yea, bring food that isn't junk. My food of choice for the con is Spagetti O's and Meatballs. Packed full of vitamins and nutrients to keep you going, requires no cooling, and can be eaten straight out of the can cold. The only way to have em. ^_^v I don't like warm spagetti O's. :P All you need is a can opener and a spoon.

Usually I get the breakfast bar at the Hyatt, a can of spagetti O's for lunch, and dinner is either another can or the Ala Carte they setup, or one of the restaurants depending on whats being served for the buffet and my mood for food. But Thursday night is always Giordano's Pizza Dinner. ^_^v

Also, can't go wrong with peanut butter and bread. It's quick, requires no cooling, and easy to bring home the leftovers.

I'm late but yeah:

*The only hotel that I know that has a micro is the Embassy. There is one with a kitchen but its not near Rosemount.

*Don't use the fridge in the Hyatt unless you know all the fees! The fridge isn't free that comes with the room. Also don't use anything in the fridge.

For the beer, go to Dominicks or if you have a car/know someone go to Indiana. The booze at Rosemount and surrounding areas are expensive, and that same price for a pint you could buy a fifth or a half a gallon and a six pack.

Food wise, get a cooler and be prepared to get tons of ice. You could get a rice cooker and make dishes by steaming them.

Also Chinatown in Chicago has a market with instant curry you can boil or steam along with ramen cups that are cheap.
