Okay, so...I posted a question a few days back re: weapons policy, and haven't gotten an answer from Ye Committee. I'm wondering if you ACen vets could help with this? How badly would I have to mangle a fake revolver to get it into the con? Or should I not worry about bringing one because it's too hard to do? I seriously can not for the life of me figure out how to do it within the rules.

I saw yours for I posted about my evoker, they told me just to paint an orange tip. I guess you just have to add a bright orange tip.

Tried that, got turned down for it being too realistic. I was really surprised your Evoker had to be capped. That's what I'm having trouble with I guess, is what the accepted line for realistic IS. Could I paint it blue and glue a cap to the end? Or just not take it at all because the shape would still be the same?

I know! It's confusing. The rules about the caps and fantasy guns should be combined, otherwise a lot of silly newbs like me will continue to ask silly newb questions about it. "All guns must be capped including fantasy guns," and "No realistic guns, period, even if they have caps," or something. But again, I could be totally wrong about that last one. Bah! So confused. And disappointed if I can't figure it out, or am obligated by rules to NOT carry a revolver at all. I mean...I'm a man, too! I can shoot bad guys and not wing civilians. Most times... >3>

Rules are that it needs to be fake, and that it needs an orange cap. What they used to do before was that you'd have to clear it at the info counter and they would tag it and you'd have to carry it around tagged.

Now I think just the orange cap tip is necessary. I have a spring action pellet pistol that is very realistic but the spring inside is broken so it doesn't work, hoping I can get away with using that at future cons.

I got yelled at 2 years ago for the obviously fake plastic gun I had as an Evoker so... they can really tell you whatever they want honestly.

Well wasn't it that last year's ACen they said no realistic looking gun props because local gangs were adding fake orange tips to their guns? I remember them posting it somewhere around or emailing it, but..yeah it's been like a year so I don't know where I'd find that again.

I found a cheap cap gun to try and fiddle with, get it somehow looking less 'Dirty Harry'. If it doesn't pass, it doesn't pass! I'll still have my handcuffs. Adachi, beware.

Not saying you can't, just saying Acen IRT might be jerks and confiscate it. It really depends because some IRT are cool and don't care and others power trip and do whatever to feel important.

I'd double check, get an admin or moderator to give you an answer, and if they say it's ok then print that page out and carry it with you at the con to pull out if anyone tries to stop you.

It looks complicated at first but once you start it, it isn't that bad. I used a tutorial from cosplay.com, I'll post it here just in case anyone wants to make one.
