Was a day/time picked for the meetup? The panel sounds interesting too! Can't wait ^^ I'm straight, but I convinced my gay bff to come with me this year. It'll be his first con ever, and an event like this would definitely make him feel more comfortable

I'm hoping to schedule the meetup Friday night or Saturday afternoon, which should avoid most major events, and will be when most people will be at the con. However, the exact time is yet to be determined because I am waiting for the final panel scheduling from ACen. I wanted to make sure that my panel time doesn't conflict with the meetup.

In the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions or votes of where to hold the meetup?
So far, here are my top 3 options (all within the Hyatt):
1.) Tables behind the elevator
2.) Second floor under the dome (assuming it is not reserved).
3.) End of the front hallway, near the ballroom & windows.

Sorry last year's meet-up didn't work out as good as I had hoped. It was the first time I had tried, so I guess there are always going to be "bugs" to work out. I'm glad to see that people are still interested though. Picking a good meeting place was tough and yes, we do need a better way to identify the group. The facebook page was a nice idea. Not sure if I'll have time to attend this year, but we'll see

OK, so according to the "almost final" ACen programming schedule, my "SGLBT Otaku Unite!" panel is currently scheduled for Friday at 12 noon. Not the most optimal time, imo.

So as far as the LGBT+A Meetup, how about we schedule something Saturday?

Here is the current (not final) Saturday panel schedule: Saturday ACen schedule

My first suggestion is Saturday at 11am in the Hyatt: tables behind the elevators.
Reasoning for this:
1.) This is before most of the major guests arrive, so less scheduling conflicts.
2.) This is just before lunch.
3.) It's earlyish in the day, so if we meet new friends, we can have fun with them at the con longer.

Since I haven't heard any objections, I am going to officially declare that we hold the LGBT meetup

Saturday at 11am in the Hyatt at the tables behind the main atrium elevators.

Just look for the rainbow flag!

Personally I believe the panel could've gone a little bit better with the side-tracking arguements and what-nots.

But the Saturday get-together was pretty nice!

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I wanted to move on to other topics, but I thought interrupting the audience would defeat the openness of the panel, since it technically is a discussion panel. But I will do this panel at more cons for sure, and it's cool to see what we end up talking about.
