But yeah crossplay has been going on, outside of the cosplay scene and in the cosplay scene, ages and ages ago.
It's just now noticed I guess by the general media.
I crossplay myself and it's not easy. You would have to bind or constrict your chest, act more like a guy, and pose like a guy if you really want to get into the character.
It's fun though. I'm getting better at doing it than I did a few years back.

Honestly, i think it's great that there was something positive said about guys who crossplay. Most articles i've read in the past either decided to not mention guys or keep it to bare minimum by mentioning worst case examples, like ManFaye.
I'm a fan of ManFaye personally cause as a guy who crossplays I know that it takes major guts, but he's also normally used by most people as a reason that guys shouldn't crossplay.

That was a fascinating article. 
I crossplay on occasion, it's really difficult to make your facial features appear slightly more mannish. Series like Kuroshitsuji make it slightly easier with effeminate characters but it can still be a challenge with the chest. XD I applaud guys with the guts to crossplay, it's great to showcase your love for a character!

Crossplays are a frequent thing for me as I do cosplays from the Touhou series which is a 99% female cast.
Men run into the problem of not looking feminine enough quite often. Even with the help of make up.

Unfortunately there's only so much makeup can do even done professionally, best thing we can do honestly is work with what we got. 'bout time this is starting to become more known though.

I dearly love crossplay. I've gotten mistaken a few times (which makes my heart swell) as I've been graced with a pretty androgynous face, and the single most beautiful woman I ever met turned out to be a guy in a dress.
