[The Fujoshi]

This is my first time doing this so I hope its in the right section.

I seen a lot of horror stories about glomping, tackling, etc. So I thought about making a panel for ways to be aware, good things to remember to keep yourself safe, (having mace is a no no but telling someone nicely not to grope you is ok,) and what to basically do at a con that would make it fun for not only yourself but others.

Anyone have any thoughts, ideas, want to co host, interested in this panel, etc.? It was going to basically be a hour of this.

I'd be interested in helping out with that. I've only been to Acen 3 times but I'm an experienced traveler and I think it'd be fun and informative for not only first time attendees but long time ones as well

I think it'd be a interesting discussion to hear what people think, and I also think it's a great way to spread awareness basically of "con manners" (lol) in a sort of way. I think you should do it~ I would go.

I have a small request for this After running registration I can't even count how many young children have attended the convention alone. Maybe a short bit on how you should attend with friends, an adult, etc. I've seen as young as a 10 year old child come alone and maybe tips on if you are attending alone how to be safe and still have fun on your own. Meeting people at photoshoots, etc. Awesome idea for a panel! If IRT still has their phone number for at convention calls you could also give that out during the panel. Also make sure this doesn't turn into a "horror stories of ACen" panel. I could see discussion going that way, but honestly there are going to be such stories at any event our size. Looking forward to your application!

I really like this idea too. I wonder if there's a way we could incorporate some humor into it (like a goofy glomping example, etc.) If you can give me more information, and if this panel idea goes, I'm happy to help, I just need time and place (since there are some other events that I can't miss.)

I hear ya! I saw the Chibi Sailor Moon surrounded by people get her picture taken, but I didn't see anyone who looked like they were WITH her. I swear she was like four years old! I even said she was super adorable and no one answered me like a parent usually would. I think it's okay if they minors are mature and responsible enough, but I go with my uncle since he likes InuYasha, he's 26 and he drives me there XP

I was going to branch:

*Proper ways of glomping and phototaking (Yes there is a proper way to do the former. Everyone hears the bad way.)
*Traveling alone v. traveling with a group (How to do both.)
*Hotel safety
*What to do in certain situations
*Covention etiquette

The traveling alone is going to branch off on the underage catagory, since Homestruck is getting popular, especially in the 12-24 range, so I can see a lot more underage people going alone.

Magi I hoping that by 2012, unless something drastic happens, that I go to Acen and either staff and/or have a panel. I'll pm you in September if you still want to co host, since the deadline is October to submit I believe.

Yep the deadline is October 31st If you do staff make sure you tell your department head when your panel is (pending approval) so they will schedule you around it as soon as you know.

Once I buy another computer I'm going to email and try to figure out what staff position would work the best and fit in. Even if I end up being a gopher due to the priorities of work life or working one day its better than nothing.
