Well, General Discussion is awfully empty now. So, let's start filling it up! I've got a couple points of discussion I'd like to start off with, and I'd like your feedback.
First, I want to hear about your experience with guest schedules in 2011. Was the information you received correct? If there were changes, how did you find out about them? Was there a time where you never found what you were looking for? Have any ideas how to make this better?
A more general question, but in the same vein: I've seen a few events now use a smart phone schedule app to post their events and event changes. Does anyone have experience with using that app at a convention, and if so, what did you think? Should we do that as well? The app is called Guidebook.
And I guess if there are any new guest events you'd like to see, please feel free to share in this subforum. I look forward to hearing from you all!
Thanks!

C2E2 used "EventKaddy" for their application. It was extremely useful for saving a schedule of what panels you wanted to attend. BUT this one crashed constantly on my groups smart phones. It got so frustrating we all stopped using it since you'd be halfway to doing something and it would crash my phone to the point of needing to restart the phone. it happened on 2 Evos, 2 my touch 4gs, and an iphone. If it didn't crash so much the app was extremely awesome and useful. I'm hoping we do get an app this year
But if we do I hope we'll test it well first, that was an awful experience with my first convention app.

Why not use something like GuideBook (formerly TheConventionist)? I think it's on all three major smartphone platforms, and if it's not available for Blackberries then provide a web-based version that can just as easily be updated with any schedule changing that would have to take place. I've had nothing but good experiences with GuideBook.

So, it looks like we will be using GuideBook. The details are still in process, but all signs point to yes.

One thing I never found out was when and where Raveman was going to Dj. I didn't see anything in the guide other than his bio,and I wouldn't wait in a long, long line on a hunch. The last thing I would want to do is try to find out through the staff. No offense, but most staff and IRT didn't have any solid info to give. Even to direct you to the right people to ask. I would just like to have confidence in the guide so I can plan my days out.
