This is actually my very first convention I plan to go to in April I don't have much to say beside my love for gaming. I love Left 4 Dead and I plan to cosplay as Ellis for the 3 days. (yes I'll stay clean I'll just need to quick wash the shirt). Since it would be hosted in rosemont it should be no problem getting there from my house. I just need some questions answered so I know what to expect and figure out how much money I need, (do i need to pay for all three days seperately or are they just one price and how much). What about airsoft guns as props and rules for that. Just hit me up and I'll ask more most likely. My name is Kenneth I like to be called Ken. Prop-wise, I'm not sure if I can be of any help, but in terms of money:
the amount you will need is dependent upon which hotel you will be staying at (also the type of room, single, double, etc.) Always bring about $40 for food, just to be safe, and at least $75 for spending money. If you're wondering about the badge prices and types, you can buy a badge for the entire weekend, or just Saturday. (There may also be a 2 day pass, but I am not sure.) Badges go on sale some time in August, and may already be available for purchase.
That should get you started. If you have other questions, just reply back, or talk to the IRT.

I don't think I need a hotel my house is just an hour drive away. What should I expect on my first day? And I want to buy a badge for the entire weekend. Oh, and and just need a general price for the weekend badge.

For the prop questions, I gave you some helpful links in your thread so that staff can answer your questions quicker.

Badges run between 50-60 dollars at con for the whole weekend but cheaper if you buy the in advance and have them mailed to you. Check the website for pre registration information. Last year it started in October, but I don't know this year.

For con spending, since you mentioned that you don't need a hotel room, 50 dollars for food and 75-100 dollars for Dealer room/Artist alley. A hotel room is usually recommended if you have a lot of cosplay outfits or photoshoots, or you want to see late panels.

If you do get a room, work out a deal with a friend or room up with someone who has one. The prices vary but it's cheaper than buying a room yourself.

Above all, hope you have fun! I'm a gamer myself but I mostly play fighting, rpgs, puzzle, and scrollers.

Yeah Fujoshi basically covered it for the badge prices and how much you wanna bring, I bring like $150 in total for dealer/room and about 50 for food.

Actually I can relate, I commuted my first year and I'm also an hour away--just be weary gas is expensive and it's like $15 to park in the convention parking garage (its probably going up this year again... >_>), and expect to have a parking spot on the very top level of it if you arrive on Friday, or Friday afternoon after school/classes or something. Because you're commuting I would recommend bringing your own food (its SOOOO expensive at the con). It is kinda nice to commute your first year to get a feel for everything, but parking is a pain with the pricing. And it kinda does suck when you drive home at like 2am get home by 3, but that's the fun in it!

and when it comes to props, I would post in the convention policies/rules threads where Rabbi (the head of IRT) can give you a straight answer if the prop is okay to bring or not! I hope you have fun and again welcome to the forums!!!!

Are you going with anyone else? I have seen people be dropped off and then meet a group inside. I'm pretty sure since you're older you'll be okay for being dropped off.

And for money purposes, think about much much you want to buy (and I mean extra stuff like posters or figures) and how much you might think it'll cost. Then just estimate from there, and add the money you need for food, badges, etc.

No the dealer hall artist/alley is part of the con, so the badge price covers it. Also there is a game area with consoles in the Hyatt lower floors.
