I posted this topic in another section, but someone recommended I post it here as well. I have a few quick questions for the IRT...

In my past years of attending ACEN, I have seen small groups of cosplayers gather in the main entryway, right outside of the dealers room, and do a short dance routine for the others in the area. I am interested in putting together a short routine as well next year, but I want to first make sure that I am within any guidelines and rules regarding this.

Are there any restrictions regarding the time my friends and I would be able to do this? Would we need to have IRT persons around us as "security" for any reason? Would we need to get the music approved first? (The songs we have picked out are "PG" rated.)

I'm sure these questions may seem silly, but I have no interest in doing something like this without first asking.

Any information regarding this is much appreciated

Sounds like a cool idea! We love to see our attendees doing crazy things like this, enjoying themselves at the con. You don't need a security escort, and you don't need to have your music pre-approved or anything like that. We ask mostly that you keep out of the way of the lines and don't form a crowd control problem, and that you keep your moves and music family-friendly or at least PG-13. The volume shouldn't be overwhelming either, please. Stick to these guidelines and don't break any of the convention's general rules, and you shouldn't hear any discouraging words from us. I would like to add though, that the convention center lobby/foyer has some restrictions mainly for fire code issues. In the past there has been requests to keep this area clear. I personally have no problems, but when it comes to congoer safety and emergency egress and emergency personnel access/ingress that these areas be kept clear to a reasonable level. You might also want to try some of the grassy areas around the concenter and hotel. Like where a lot of people do outdoor photoshoots weather dependent.

Some things to consider are if you want to help keep things safe:
1) Am I blocking anyone
2) Is my audience blocking passageways (if so kindly ask them to make sure there is a clear path for fellow congoers and emergency personnel)
3) If you are asked to move, please follow directions promptly and be sure to have a few other backup sites in your head and announce it to your audience if you have to move.
4) Battery powered audio player (eliminates tripping hazards, and you can take it anywhere)
5) Just be safe and use common sense when it comes to public locations and be courteous to others.

As long as you aren't causing a hazard and the concenter officials don't have a problem with it, I won't be bothering you nor IRT will bother to ask you to move, but if there is issues we will ask you to move.

No worries regarding the dance. All of my friends bailed out at once. So yeah.
