Hi! I got the Acen newsletter email saying the room block was supposed to open today on August 1st. I called the Hyatt and they said they had no information yet. Any clue what happened?

I received the newsletter too and thought it was odd it would open in August--I thought it was pretty early, since many people and from when I booked last year it was like Octoberish. Hopefully we can get Brent in here so then he can answer what's up!

Hopefully they figure it out soon. 
My best friend is planning on reserving a room for our group at the Hyatt this year, especially with it being opened this early, so the sooner the better so we get that part out of the way.

If the hotel was having any difficulties, they must have sorted them out. I called yesterday night (around 9 PM) and have no trouble reserving a room for next year.

Yeah that does work. Most of them know what ACEN is since we are really rememberable and since we've been at the Hyatt for so long.
If you want to get technical, I remember last year it was said you had to say "Midwest Animation Promotion Society." But either way it works.

It is open and should be available for booking for sometime. Most people say it takes about 3 or so months for it to be completely booked so you should be good for awhile but as the old saying goes "the early bird gets the worm." If it does get booked, you can always try calling back sometime after it sells out because people do cancel their hotels. If all else fails there's a couple neighboring hotels you can go to like the Embassy. Best of luck!

Usually when I book rooms, I do it by phone. That way, no mistakes can be made. I put in a special request to have me on the third floor with the rooms facing the entrance of the Hyatt. The view last year was nice but we we're facing the highway. Not too exciting. See you there!
