Room Block

Anyone have any word on the Hyatt room blocks? It says they opened at 8:00am on August 1st, its 11:30 now and I see no web link to reserve through, no code to enter for the room rates posted, and when I called the hotel they said there is no rate for any conventions during the con dates.

Same thing here. Even after calling the Hyatt and talking to a few different people, they said that the rate isn't "set" yet.

The room block typically doesn't open until the fall. Be patient guys. There will be an announcement on the forums when the block opens

Its taking less and less time every year :P I was just curious if anyone who was "in the know" knew if the block had officially been posted yet, or if they were experiencing some hangup with it.

I tired booking rooms but they won't let me do it yet. I just got off the phone with the Hyatt a few seconds ago. Does anyone know why the Hyatt risen there prices for the rooms?

Same here, I got all excited when I got the email saying the block would be open today, and I called and it's not true. :(

They prepared them early this year. I also got the same response from Hyatt on the phone "They'll be ready later tonight or early tomorrow." I'm going to call again later. But hang tight everyone! :)

As for price increases, the higher the demand, the higher the price goes. Sucks but that's life. :P

Either something in their computer hasn't loaded or some other internal problem. :shrugs: They probably expected it to be ready by that time but it wasn't. I just recommend if you want to book just call later, thats my plan.

You can pull a Bart and Lisa Simpson by repeatedly calling and asking "Are ACen rooms open yet?" Maybe if we irritate them enough they will. LOL JK

They just changed the message on the front page, looks like it opens at 8pm, or that is the new estimated time.

Well this is new.

All I can say is be patient and check the site/forum daily. Sometimes the hotel doesn't know about the block ahead of time.

Hyatt takes forever to be 100% booked, I remember last year there were still rooms in Jan.

This is the first year I heard about Acen block in the summertime.
ACen 2013 Cosplay:
Hero from SMT: DS2, Emmet/Kudari from Pokemon Black and White, Roppi Izaya from Durarara, Hitoshura human form from SMT.

All the random avatars this time are from LJ and I don't own any of them. Some of the avatars are credit to aristocracy, Taku ♫ arthursandwich, noxjustxnoin, imperial-code, dojicons, narrante, dino-cookie, shiroyuki_kun, takerzmuse, and ushitora_icons at LJ. I DON'T OWN ANY OF THE ICONS.

I got mine, it took until around 3 PM for them to get it to go through.

If you cancel by April 4th, you'll be fully refunded. Magnishine is right that they usually charge a little closer to the date. Anytime after April 4th, the deposit is non-refundable. So be wise, let everyone else who might be rooming with you know that as well.

I know....but when i called today to reserve I reached the end of the booking and she goes. "You will be charged a deposit of $169, TODAY for your room" to which i replied with what do you mean today?? I have been going to this con for like 6 years now and its never taken out till April. and she just said "O....I dont know, things change".............lawl what? am I the only person that had to pay the deposit right as the booking was made??

No deposit was taken out of my account. I was told it would be taken out in April.

Hey, gang. Sorry for the miscue this morning. Needed a bit more time to get all the ducks in a row. As you can tell, yes the Hyatt room block is open, and will remain open until it fills. We will follow the same pattern of announcing when a room block is full, and when a new block opens, over the newsletter and twitter and the website this year, to try and keep everyone in the loop and be sure that all of you have a fair chance to be where you want.

yeah I tried calling this morning to reserve a suite and they weren't showing any available. Did they reduce the amount available or something like that? Last year I was able to reserve one several days after the block opened. very weird in my eyes
