I'm trying to make a cosplay for next year that features some light armor and a long sword (probably without sheath). Does anybody have any suggestions for the best material to use? I'll try to insert an image of the character, Ferris from "Legendary Heroes" (the one in purple)...though I'm not so tech savvy so I hope it works!

I been using craft foam to make my Hetalia-Rome Armor. xD

I seems to be quite beginer friendly, here is a tutorial and information: http://windofthestar.../craftfoam.html

One recomendation for anyone doing a chest piece with a curve similar to the one in the picture is that you follow a corset pattern or something similar, it will make your job much easier.

My Rome armor was similar to Ferris and I spent a lot of time just getting the mock up to curve my body just right.

I have made a couple props and it looks like the lovely people before me have already covered almost everything I was going to say. Cool! I have one more additional suggestion. If you want it to look metallic, run over to JoAnn's or some other craft store and buy some metallic spray paint. It dries quickly, is super easy to use, and looks awesome. Totally realistic.
There are probably much better ways of doing this, but I found it a great and cost-effective way to make some foam look like some metal!
Cosplaying As:

-Shindo Shuichi [Gravitation]
-Hiroki Kamijo [Junjou Romantica]
-Ritsuka Aoyagi [Loveless]
-Ciel Phantomhive [Kuroshitsuji]
-Rio Takeuchi [Spiral Suiri no Kizuna]
-Jyou [Exist Trace]
