I've read about resin, but I've never actually used it before. There's a couple parts of my costume though that I think it would work well with. Is there any way to make molds without using silicone? (All of the equipment for it seems too expensive D:)

Of course you will need a positive to make a negative as with any mold project.
As for silicon and life casting Smooth-On does sell starter kits that go for aound $25 dollars.
