I'm in the agreement that unless you know a person (well, like this person wouldn't de-friend you for doing it) you really shouldn't pounce someone from behind or even in front of them, lol. It may be done in good humor buy like the stories that were shared here say people have either been hurt or have had things broken (a camera of any kind isn't cheap.) Fortunately for myself, every con attendee I have run into who has wanted to give me a hug has usually given me a big smile and asked Can I give you/get a hug?" For that, I'm perfectly fine with it. Just don't run at or behind the person. If they say no, well don't do it, they have their reasons.
Glomping. Make it a no-no. i actually fear for my well being

You sound like me. Back in 2010, I had a really, really huge girl glomp me. At the time, I was around 105-110 pounds (I'm about 130 now), and I was wearing a corset. The girl f-ing attack/glomped me - and she was at least a good 250. I was nearly knocked to the floor. But I would be wrong to beat her butt into the middle of next year, right?
They need to penalize glomping the same way they penalized the Yaoi paddles.
