Since the first meetup was successful and we discussed a second one, here it is!

What; Shy People Meetup pt2
Where; Ding Dong Dang Karaoke [224 E Golf Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005]
Time; July 2nd, 7pm-12am
Notes; Please PLEASE Give me your contact info if you are for sure coming to this meetup. That was a problem last time. No one had anyone's number so it was hard to find each other and I never knew who was coming and how long we should wait. Don't worry I don't text or call people [unless for meetups] so I won't be a bother :]
IMPORTANT!!! If you end up being late and you already told us that you were FOR SURE coming, you will still be required to pay for the time we are there for.

Anyways Im pretty reseved/shy so I guess this is the kinda meeting I should be going to. Last time I couldnt make it cause it fell on Drill weekend.

Warning: I have wierd taste in music, if i sing you might be hit with anything from Black Sabbath - War Pigs to Bee Gees - Staying Alive. xP

Seems interesting. Just did some Yelp research and discovered it's primarily Korean & Japanese private room style... can't say I know a lot of songs for either language. Anyway, I wonder what the English books have...

I totally encourage singing mainly japanese songs (jpop, jrock, and/or anime)!!!

I am a very bad singer and I am not going to sing to this event, but will most likely will be there.

Just in keep in mind, the more people go, the more bigger room we get, that also means it's going to be a little heavy on the wallet.
Bigger number of people going also means a lot of wait time for singing, so I encourage you guys to try and plan out the songs you guys wanna sing, make a list, so when we get there all you have to do is keep inputting them on the receiver. I might bring a couple of friends along.

What is the Age limit at the place 18 or 21?


Its kinda hard to pic songs when we cant really see the list. I mean, I could say I will sing Aqualung, Pyscho Killer, Mr. Torture, Strangers in the night, Billie Jean, Staying Alive or I will survive but none of those songs might actually be there. (I like how my list got more and more rediculos as it went on, lol.)

Then again I could just have people pick some random old song for me, those are always fun. xD

Sorry buddy. It looks like no Japanese oldies songs for us @ this karaoke event. I think I will be hitting up on the soju and the meet and greet part of the event.

Reason I am asking is because when I first got to Chicago I asked my cousin if they had any Kareoke places with private rooms like in Japan and she told me they did but that my other cousins couldnt come because they dont allowe minors due to them serving Alcohol.

I dont know if its the same place but seeing as they do serve alcohol and the meeting is on saturday night I might assume they have an age limit. (some bars/club have family night when they serve food instead of drinks, but thats usually during the week)

Personally for me its not a problem, im over 21, but other members might want to come and be turned around at the door. So If nobody knows is 100% sure, i would suggest some one calls and finds out.

No problem yo. I have been to this karaoke place several times with minors. As long as we are responsible. There will be no problems at all. If you need reassurance, I kind of know the owner. I will ask tomorrow and post again on this board.

That sounds fun, but I only know English songs Is there a site for prices, song list or anything for the place? It does sound like fun and I have never karaoke before unless you count playing Lips for the Xbox...

A few posts up Suigetsu said that there is a large selection of English songs :] You should be fine.

As far as I can see there is no website for this place. ;A; You pay by how much time you spend and how large the room is. Once more people confirm if they're coming, we should be able to get a pretty good estimate of how much it'll be.

Oh yes, There are a ton of Momusu songs (especially from the old gen, Love Machine especially). A friend and I will most likely sing songs from that group and subgroups (remembers MiniMoni) and from AKB48 ones as well.

The man has been around, what can I say? Networking is amazing.

You can count that all the good American classics/oldies/90's/80's are there (as long as we are not singing US folksongs and whatnot *cringes from the last meet-up) so don't worry what US songs are there as long as they are not indie/underground songs they should be there. And yes, most likely all the songs in games like Lips/Rockband/Guitar Hero are there.

Bad news guys ;A; Due to unforeseen family issues, I can't make it to this meetup. I know I'm the leader but I can't help the situation that has come up.
I don't want to cancel this meetup as many people are looking forward to it so is anyone willing to take up the job of ringleader here?

Cause it almost seems that we can always reschedule the meetup.
