Well I was wondering where I can play this arcade game. Anyone know of one thats close to Chicago? I heard the Gameworks had one in Hoffman Estates but I'm not sure if they still have it. I loved Version 3 so if anyone can help me I would much appreciate it. Thank you ^_^

I wish I knew. I live in Decatur and the only Initial D machines I'm aware of are v3 around Chicago somewhere. I used to play v2 religiously in Baltimore until the arcade shut down. That was around when Namco started shutting down tons of arcades. I haven't found accessible cabs since then.

Gameworks in Schaumburg (ain't squat in Hoffman Estates) had it about 5 years ago, apparently tested pretty terribly (considering there were no cards, solo cabinet, and $5 per play, it's no wonder the test unit bombed) and sent it off to another location, supposedly either to Cinci or Seattle.

Sega US only produced a super limited amount of cabinets of v4, being that the physics are garbage on v4 anyway, you're not missing much. You might as well look for a v5 or v6/AA, unfortunately all of which are incredibly difficult to find in the US anyway (except in California).

So while I'm hotelling in chicago, where are the ID cabs? Version 2/3 are just fine with me. I'll be staying in Alsip, and Westmont for the next 4 weeks.

If you don't have a ID3 card, you can play the movable cabinet version at Gameworks (single play only), a bit of a trip though. Otherwise you'll find random movie theaters with ID3 cabs. Haven't seen an ID2 in a really long time though.

The only arcades I can think of near Alsip are a bust. Haunted Trails *might* have it but I haven't been there in years.

I have v1, v2, and v3 cards =/ I'd really like to continue working on my RX8 v3 card too.

Sadly these days, you might be better off buying a machine, they seem to auction off in this area between $500-2500 per unit. Chicago's very sparse with arcades and you're hard-pressed to find one where the owner isn't some 60-year old fogey that throws any games in there and expects people to play 15 year old games.
