So I'm curious which new series do you think will be the next big series that people will want to cosplay as? Right now I'm betting on Blue Exorist for several reasons.

1. Lead character has a lot in common with Ichigo, and Naruto.

2. Has a large and interesting cast that can be shipped various ways.

3. Artistic style is pretty enough that the boys look nice and the girls look mostly pretty.

4. High action shonen.

It's usually some series that debuts like..three month away from acen. Like Panty and Stocking was super popular but sooo new. So I really don't have any exact shows yet

I would say Panty and Stocking. Because like Octoroxxx said, there were already a lot of them.

I agree with Blue Exorcist! .........Or at least I hope so D| I hope there are more cosplayers from it than this year (I only saw a Kimiki, Shiemi, Rin, and Shura, but it made my day |D ) since I might be cosplaying from it for 2012 and some of my friends are thinking about it also.
I think Panty and Stocking will get even more popular, though.

I've never heard of Blue Exorcist... but then again I'm not really into new anime.

I don't think Panty & Stocking will last. Gianax makes amazingly cracky stuff, but we all thought Gurren Lagann was going to be the next crazy thing, but really it never was.

Personally I think Durarara!! has the chance to be since it's going to be on Adult Swim this summer, anime is never on there anymore so it has a great chance to be. But then again maybe not because it's only a single season.




When it comes down to it, I don't think something will be as big of those series because they don't run for 200+ episodes.

^ I think Durarara!! as well. Mostly the big series that are cosplayed a lot are the things that recently come to America. I already saw a lot of DRRR!! cosplayers this year so they'll probably be a lot more next year.

Definitely. The "Bad Fans" of every fandom move to whatever was popular, and they seem to be migrating to Homestuck, unfortunately.

right now it seems Hetalia and Homestruck. I'm betting on Blue exorsist and Maybe the late contenders right now. If Enigma gets a series or Meta Box those two will certainly have fans.

I guess we'll just have to keep an eye out.

Fairy Tail. Its getting a dub this fall. I believe the amount of cosplayers keeps doubling every year.

I didn't actually think there were going to be many Panty &; Stocking cosplayers, I thought me and my friend might be one of the only ones and boy was I shocked to see so many walking around O__O; I cosplayed as Stocking, I had a glowing sword as was in the black outfit with the blue bow. I'm looking to update my costume for next year tenfold (lots more LEDS, more extravagant) and so is my Panty cosplayer. I don't know if more people will show up as Panty & Stocking cosplayers, but probably o.o

I think Bioshock and Final Fantasy will probably get even more cosplayers than they had this year, that seemed to be fairly popular.

I think theres 2 big cosplays each year.

The cosplay every one does, and the ones alot of girls do (bunny girl haruhi, panty & stocking, the year of SNJ)

I think panty and stockings will stay, but idk about next years...if people enjoy deadman wonderland anime/manga as much as i do...then i bet my money on that.

I seen a lot of Homestuck than anything else and that's saying a lot.

Dunno about Durarara because I....don't even know what this is and that's saying a lot.

Well, throwing my two cents around to say that I don't think P&S will be as
hot next year as it was this year. I remember in 2010 when Vocaloid (particularly Miku)
was the big thing, and I saw about a million people cosplaying her. I totally
thought it would be the same deal this year, but I didn't see nearly as many.

It's gotten me to think that each year, there's a "fad" cosplay or series that
you're gonna see a lot of, and a year is a long time for a fad to last, so by
the next ACen, it's bound to be something different and fresh.

There are probably people who could make better educated guesses than me about
what's gonna be the next hot series or character to cosplay, because I'm sort of
out of the loop in that regard.

Oh, so my theory applies to Homestuck, too. There were a TON of HS cosplayers this
year, the gathering was HUGE! Since it's ongoing (for now), there probably will still
be a good amount of HS cosplayers next year, but I don't think it will be nearly as many.
I've been wrong before, though!

It seems to me that ongoing series keep the cosplayers up, because there's always something
new going on that you can focus on, and new characters or outfits introduced that translate
into new costumes for cosplayers. Citing sources, One Piece has been going for YEARS UPON
YEARS, and there are still two gatherings, and a bunch of dedicated cosplayers.

If HS keeps it up, I'm sure the gathering will be large next year, too. :3

I agree with this. Homestuck is also pretty easy to cosplay from (though not easy to do well, sadly!)

i would rather see alot of naruto characters, then an army of narutos.

I think I'm definitely leaning towards Durarara!! Last year when it was just airing, there was a small handful of Durarara!! characters but ever since that con, every con I've went to has had a pretty big DRRR!! following and at any con - I happen to see Shizuo and Izaya cosplayers no matter what. And, with the dub finally all out, and it airing on Adult Swim - definitely has my biggest vote right now.

I do agree that Homestuck will be another big thing though! I keep seeing it everywhere. I do agree that I thought PSG wasn't as big as I had gathered it was going to be, but it was still pretty nice handful.

I second that (and not just because I'm doing both HS and APH...), but both series are fairly new, and ongoing, so I could definitely see there being a large group of both.
the APH group was enormous last year...I can't imagine it getting much bigger...

I bet there will be a couple of Crows from Deadman Wonderland next year. Unfortunetly they ended the season 1, but it will probably pick up once they start season 2 next year.

Drrr is on cartoon network and I already heard about the mass of Shi and troll-sama cosplayers.

Hetalia
Vocaloid because of the new Kaito
Homestruck

Drrr might give Hetalia a run for its money.

I'm a yaoi fan but I don't get why Shizuo and Izaya are paired up so hardcore. It's like a worse version of FrUk from Hetalia.

Rivally and rage = love for some fans. Honestly I can see Drrr for some fans, but for those that like non complex, maybe fairy tail. You need something with mass appeal.
