Enough people have offered support and interest that I feel I have enough people now. The information below is for them if they end up needing to be reminded of what happened, what they might need to do, etc. Thanks for everyone's interest! There have been so many lovely people who have contacted me and who seem perfect for the positions. Three people have been hired on by me, back-ups have been told they are are going to be back-ups or will be told soon and other people who have offered their assistance have also been spoken to. No need to message anymore, there are A LOT of people who have come to my aid and have acted very professionally and friendly or are going through the same type of situation. Okay, so I went to the convention this year, my physical condition is well... not so great. I sliced my finger open with a knife pretty deeply on Saturday, my hand was oozing out blood and ended up bleeding out again later that night. I fainted, and had some trouble with a few persistent men intent on gaining things from me. Not to mention a drunken stalker and a few other odd things. (The IRT was able to handle the drunk stalker but he ended up following me again later) I have anxiety problems and breathing trouble too so I'd need someone on constant watch of me. My physical condition is becoming pretty weak so I know I'll need this. I'm extremely friendly and kind and people often take that the wrong way too. I had a few odd threats and other things occur as well to where I feel I need to do this (Even though I spoke to the staff and they kindly tried to assist me) A friend of mine was able to help me out for 2011 but I fear as I keep getting weaker something unexpected may happen that the IRT won't be able to look out for me for. I can't have them watch and follow me 24/7, THUS I am hiring a bodyguard/Guardian for ACEN 2012.

Requirements:
1. Have some sort of medical/first aid knowledge or just be able to respond quickly to a serious situation and escort me to the medical room the ACEN convention has.

2. Prove to me you have no sexual intentions and will not be a threat to my safety. I do not mind if you are a man or a woman, if you are a woman though I would prefer if you have some sort of martial arts/self defense experience or anything else in case of a physical situation involving attack etc. Women can come off less intimidating as men at times, it's not meant to be offensive I would just rather both of us be safe.

3. Be able to make your shift to be with me and watch out for me.

4.. I will teach you about the medicines I need or things that will help me in certain circumstances so be sure to retain that information and be able to utilize it in case of any situation. (Basically just telling you this medicine does this, its in this bag if I cant breathe, if this happens then grab that and give it to me.)

5. Be physically tough enough to be able hold me up at least if I faint, OR just know how to/can transport me/get help immediately.

6. You must already be a con attendee and have your own badge, room, money for food etc. I will only be paying for bodyguard services.

Its basically just hanging out with me, watching over me, and IF anything happens being able to respond and get me to safety or keep me safe.

I've decided I will have you guys doing shifts, since so many took interest. I picked the most experienced people who have applied and the ones who best met my requirements. I will pay for those who help me/hired, even if you said you didn't want me to. I WILL push my money on you. (I will also be hiring back-ups and a more solid schedule will be made out as the con draws more near)

Days I will have a bodyguard/someone to assist me/watch out for me:
Friday (April 27th) - Rate for Friday $110 for the day
Saturday (April 28th) - Rate for the day $130 (considering this day seems to be busiest and has more dangers)
Sunday (April 29th) - $80 (because it's the shortest convention day)

I might possibly have one of the people I hired too to be around with me Thursday and pay them the Sunday rate of $80 for escorting me to the meet n greet etc. (since we wouldnt arrive until the middle of the afternoon like 3-4pm, not much going on really)

Well, I don't have the kind of schedule that exactly allows for something like this, and I wouldn't really feel right taking money to essentially hang out with someone at a con. That said, should I ever be around when there's a problem I'm apparently a pretty dependable guy.

I guess I am kind of concerned about asking everyone publicly like this. I think you might do a lot better if you had a close friend you already know who could look after you. But it's your thread and your choice, not mine. Just lodging the thought.

Hey C2Queen! Sounds like you really need the help and someone you can trust. I see myself working on two panels and outside of that have no big obligations. I might not be a greatly licensed medical technician, but I have the qualifications to keep any testosterone driven/inebriated moron at bay. And I should not have too much trouble carrying you around if need be! ^p^

This is basically my last resort thread xD To be honest. Trust me, I've thought about it and tried to get close friends to do it. Thing is, that Saturday this past ACEN not one of my friends knew how to react to it except a guy I had happened to be with. But thing is-- I don't really know if I could trust my life with him again. I really don't know... there's been some drama occurring lately about it all. I'm sure he'll read this, who knows what he will think. Well I figured, I could hire an actual professional from the area, but its a little more expensive and also it doesn't seem like they would end up being as friendly or have the convenience of being in the same area. It sounds stupid to ask publicly, but really... all of the people I've met lately have been two faced and I feel like I should reach out to the people on the forums. I mean, there are 16,000 registered users, I figured one of them might be able to help me T///T I'm not a bad person... and I mean, I'm not doing it for any dramatic reason. This is really serious to me, and I don't want to miss out on ACEN weekend and all the happiness I felt.

Haha, you could always do it for part of the day. I can have shifts going? Whatever works easier for the con goers. I don't want to kill their day by having them be with me the whole day >__<; If enough people just had shifts I could pay them a little for whatever they do for me and watch me. Any help at all would be appreciated! ^__^ I'm thinking I should split this into shifts, have different people work a few hours or a hour or two, give them a few bucks and then let them run off for the rest of the day ^__^ if you guys think thats the best idea, let me know please =] Precisely nouseforname, this isn't for relationship purposes and I think it wouldn't do any good. Haha, yeah. If it was, that would mean I'd be carrying a fan with me all the time and have a bodyguard that likes throwing grenades and shooting his gun off in the worst moments xD That would definitely bring more harm than anything... ^^;;; But to everyone of you guys that has posted, thank you for the concern and wanting to help in the first place! Yea, worked as a bouncer for about a year at a local bar, got pretty crazy on college nights, hehe... good times.. anyhow if nothing else, I'm sure some people can leave contact information to get in touch with them in case of an emergency, bar the feinting problem, just to throw an idea out there.

Considering it was really hard to get into contact with my friends and room-mates when everything was happening and even the "dealers room" incident u___u;;; I won't go into detail about that... My PTSD and anxiety level increased ten fold that night. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday there were some pretty traumatic things that happened and Sunday I just had some really bad anxiety and couldn't really breathe. Even walking outside with friends people were blowing smoke towards me and I couldn't breathe and none of my friends knew what to do to help me T///T

Well as far as the smoke goes, if you have asthma I imagine the solution is an inhaler, which you should be carrying at all times as is. And if you don't have asthma... maybe you have asthma?

I would be interested if I had proper medical training. But from what I understand you'd also accept escorts to the medical center should the need arise. So if that is not a problem then I'd be able to let you pal around with my small group, or at least offer you my number should something come up.

As for the money, $320 dollars while nice, would be way to much for something that I'm sure someone would be willing to do for free. I haven't seen such a topic like this before but don't assume us to be mercenaries.

I tell you what though, there's lots of variables involved but I'd be willing to do it for a cost of $0, if I could do it. Because honestly you'd have better things to spend that on, and if your condition is as bad as you say, you need more of a friend/convention pal/lifeline than an actual bodyguard. And there's no price tag for that.

However, also think about how your health would fare in a year. If you get weaker and weaker, is the benefit of going outweighing the negatives of having to worry about creepers, your health, and other factors? Just keep these things in mind around here. You're free to keep in contact with me if you think I fit your bill well, but again, think about your situation as the day gets closer.

I agree here... wouldn't be much fun if you spent all your money on a bodyguard and had nothing left for yourself. I wouldn't be able to take money from ya lol, I just feel a need to help out... assuming I'm able to make Acen next year, as I plan to.

I didn't think so many people would take interest and put as much heart into this as they have. I'm extremely grateful for everyone's support. You guys really made me happy and I feel like I'll be able to have a fun, worry free convention experience. I don't know if it's asthma I have, we've been focusing a lot more on my nerves and nerve pains and just me being so physically tired and becoming more and more exhausted. I do take breathing medicine though, its apparently asthma medicine. But anxiety attacks often lead to me being unable to breathe too in general.

I'm the type of person who's had people need something from me materially to actually be willing to help me. Thats the thing, I didn't expect people to do it out of the kindness of their hearts... it makes me so unbelievably happy though that everyone has been saying they would want to do it that way. I just couldn't have people do it for free though, I mean Im still going to try and push money on them for helping me with it. You're right KirbyFanone.

Thing is, I know even though I'm getting weaker it may not be the best idea to go to the con. But to be honest, this year was my first year going and it was one of the happiest times of my life. I had dreamed of going since I was a little girl and I didn't get to do nearly as much things as I wanted to. I was so happy, I cried tears of joy. Everything was like a dream to me... I felt like all the pain and suffering of my past and my life dissolved to nothing and everyone was brought together, bonded with one another, helped others like family... like the family I never had. Since so many people have offered me help, KirbyOne, Ranko, Lucien, Rakuen, Nouseforaname, Exezer, Eva, and everyone else who even wished me good luck... I feel like I should have you guys pick days and times that will work best and give everyone the chance who put their heart on their sleeve to even care to assist me to have the chance to and get to meet me, become friends and just help me out of the goodness of your hearts. I think I have enough people offering and taking up the positions to where I can basically close this down and discuss with all of you guys everything and keep it open to all of you who responded right away.

I agree with what everyone else as been saying here. You seem like a really kind and sweet person, and its nice that you want to show monetary appreciation for people wanting to help you, but it'd be kind of hard to take money for essentially just hanging out, ya know? I mean, yeah, something can happen to you (hopefully nothing will) and they'd have to help you, but isn't that what a friend is for anyway? You don't need a single bodyguard as much as a bunch of helpful friends so you won't be alone

I for one would gladly hang out during the con. I wouldn't know quite when I'd be able to till panel and shoot schedules show up and everything, but I'm certain there'd be quite a few gaps where nothing's happening and I'm free to hang out with people. Just, no money, ok? If I hang out with you, and if I end up having to help you out somehow, it'll be cuz you're an awesome person, and not cuz of a few bucks =D

She wants someone to be completely professional and especially not some guy who will make passes at her (requirement #2). I also assume she doesn't want a fly-by-night person who says they will help, but come April 2012, there is no sign of them and she would be left out in the cold. The compensation should hopefully make the atmosphere professional enough that she can find someone who will act professional and give such a commitment.

I will be blunt as someone who has dealt with anxiety himself in the past. If people do not know how do deal with it/ expect it, they can make the situation far worse. If you are going to be paying someone for their services I advise that you go through their post history on this forum to get a larger picture of them. That way you can tell how they act in various situations and if they may be able to handle it if a situation were to arise and not to panic themselves.

I mean no offense in this, I just want you to get the best of the best that you can for help at the con.

I want to agree with this in so many ways...In so many others I want to argue it...I think the otaku community is fantastic and I'm not entirely sure there will be a huge problem with this. For the most part, the otaku community is one of the most generous and nicest communities out there. That being said, the concerns you raise are absolutely valid and I can see some guy doing it to prove how "chivalrous" he is in hopes that the woman falls head over heals in love with him.

So I'm not sure I got anywhere with this reply or why I made it...
