SO

The Bristol Renaissance Faire is 1) super-awesome and 2) opening July 5. I was happy to see some reps from the Faire at Acen, and I'm definitely aching to go this summer. If you've never been, get ready for two and a half months of awesome fun, feasting, and games, plus really sweet cosplays! Bristol is a bit north of the Chicago area, and skirts the IL/WI border in a thick patch o' woods. You can find more info at the Bristol site here. If you order ahead of time, tickets are only $14.95 (they're $19.95 regularly).

Just wanted to see if anyone would be interested in meeting up at some point during the Ren Faire season (July 9 - September 5). It's a bit of a drive, but it's worth it-- jousting, mud fights, turkey legs and ale, costume rentals and cool merch for sale, etc.

Post ITT if ye be not afraid to meet for some feasting and jousting, the likes of which ye will never forget!

Renaissance Faire truly is awesome. If you've never been, then please examine these for inspiration...

- Entertainment (shes balancing on a ball btw)
- Sweet costumes
- FIRE WHIPS
- Jousting

... and more! A meet up would definitely be sweet.

It's like ACen, but nothing to do with Japan or cartoons or comics or video games...

I'll be going this year. I've got a cousin who is on staff at Bristol who as been trying to get me to come for the last few years.

Sadly won't be attending ACen 2012. So I'll be taking my cosplay up a notch for 2013.

This does look interesting. Those performers from the faire at ACEN were really neat.

That looks like so much fun! I might try to convince a friend of mine to go on a road trip with me this summer. And to think I originally only noticed the topic because of the use of the word "zounds".

I feel like that's more pirate-speak than Renaissance speak... Did anyone watch Workaholics last night? The dudes from that show were going to the Renaissance Faire.

Was the ticket for any day of the faire, or a specific day?

Tickets are good for any day that the faire is open, not any specific day.

A lot of people are unaware of the Bristol Wiki. It's not completely up-to-date, but it's getting there. Feel free to update as appropriate.

I thought about going to Bristol Ren Faire in 2011, but never quite got around to it. Maybe it was just me, but every weekend seemed uncomfortably hot...

To make up for it, I bought a discounted ticket while at ACen. I'll make sure that I don't misplace it in the next few months.

It was uncomfortably hot, except for the last day. I had to keep my cloak wrapped around me to stay warm. It was awesome! I'd rather have a bit of a chill than sweat beading and rolling down my back constantly.

We bought season tickets, so my husband and I will be there a bunch of times this summer. :)

Well BRF is an excellent place to go. Before it was my last home that I did not somehow work at but this year I will be working there too (volunteerism is a disease, but not very contagious). If you do go, be sure to stop by the Friends of Faire Garden just a few booths down from the flushable privies. For either a small fee for the entire period of the Faire and we have day passes also available, it is a great spot that we have free unlimited filtered ice water and gatorade (made with the filtered water), and our own privies (hoop skirt friendly I tend to call them), and other cool events through the year including 2 feast days (pot-luck type). Some of the cast come and give a small lesson on different aspects of the Renaissance Era and things like character development. All in all it is a pretty cool group to be a member of. Also we do have a shaded area which is necessary for those hot sunny days.

Another event in the maybe pile, lol. I really would like to go to this some day but compared to a few other events, it's more likely on the back burner. Never say never I guess. :)

My husband and I went today, but I totally forgot about this thread!

Who is up for a meetup next weekend? We can only go on Saturdays, so who else will be there next weekend?

By the way, it actually wasn't that hot. All things considered it was tolerable heat, and coupled with a cool breeze it was almost perfect weather for a July in Wisconsin.

I am going on Saturday the 14th with a few people. Sure I am up for a meet up… ^_^ But note I am the only Anime Otaku in the group. -_- Even with that, I talked to my friend which is the person driving and they are cool with a meet up too…

We plan on getting there when doors open and leaving by 5pm... We also will have some what of a schedule, once they post the darn thing!!! So we are going to want to see a few things at certain times, being it is my friends 1st time back since last year and I have not been there in like 3 or more years…

So you can PM me on the forum or just post here and we can see were it will go from there…
