I was at the con this year and rediscovered my love for ocarinas, so I'm now looking to buy either a double or a triple one. I saw plenty of people at Acen with ocarinas, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?
If not, general ocarina chat.

Ocarinas I own:

6 hole sweet potato Zelda ocarina from Songbird
10 hole horn ocarina from Songbird
6 hole pendant ocarina from Firestone ( I think that's what they're called )
12 hole Infinity ocarina from STL
12 hole plastic soprano sweet potato ocarina from STL

I'm not a fan of Firestone's at all, I found their pendant to go out of tune very quickly and acts more like a necklace. The Songbirds seem to be more for show. I think my Infinity ocarina was a little defective this weekend, and my first plastic sweet potato from STL broke, but they replaced it at the stand. The Infinity is insanely hard to hold down the lowest notes, probably because of the design. I found that the plastic one was the easiest to play, and despite its suuuper high pitched sound, it sounds decent for the 20$ I spent on it.

This weekend I was practicing with the white Infinity ocarina and the plastic one, I bought both at the STL stand.

Tuuuuuuu

I adore them. I bought my first at this, my first Acen and I bought another (which I lost 5 minutes later...) on the last day. I adore the sound and I sat next to a talented girl for a few hours listening to her play. I felt weird but I just can't shake the entrancing melody and soothing sound they make from my system. I didn't remember to get her contact info but I'm fairly sure she thought I was a creeper. xD Oh well, it was fun watching an beautiful girl play a beautiful tune for a while and definitely left an awesome first impression of the Ocarina being played outside the booth.

I can play em. Most of em are set up just like my tin flute/penny-whistle. Mostly Irish/British folk stuff. :3

They vary in cost but you can get them from PL Ocarinas or online.

The guy mentioned they cost from 5-90 dollars

I was thinking while my friend was looking, "For that little thing?"

But they do seem really cool though.

I had one a few years ago and sold it. It was more of a display rather than one to play.

I was wandering around the parking garage on sunday (couldn't find my car, surprise surprise) and I heard it echoing from a different floor. It was haunting but beautiful.

While I like the Ocarina, I got annoyed with them pretty fast at ACen. I kept hearing them being played all the time. ><

The reason they are so expensive is they are usually handmade, and making an instrument like that out of clay is a tedious job that requires decades of practice and amazing attention to detail.

There was a Link at ACEN, playing his ocarina in the courtyard when I was extremely upset (because of some very stressful situations, losing $150 and a few other things that got cleared up) I happened to walk by and take a listen and it instantly cheered me up and made my whole day ;///; I envy those who can play an ocarina and I hope to be able to play one someday =] For all of you who can play Ocarina and love it with all your heart, you people make me really happy and I'd love to sit and listen to someone play one for a long time n///n

I've bought 6 from Songbird Ocarinas. I've bought 4 pendants , a standard sweet potato, & an extended range sweet potato from them. All are excellent quality, I still play my first pendant which i bought nearly 10yrs ago.

Sadly won't be attending ACen 2012. So I'll be taking my cosplay up a notch for 2013.

I could use someone to practice with. I don't have an ocarina, but a pennywhistle :3

I just got a six whole potato ocarina for my birthday. I love it, but my dream is to get one that looks like the Ocarina of Time. To bad they are really expensive. I've already began learning some of the zelda songs on my six whole though, so I can't complain that much.
