So I go to get an estimate on my car's damage... The insurance company writes a check for a bit under $2400. The car is too new to not get it fixed even though my rate might go up a bit. No idea if it will though.

The Utica tornado was 2004. :/
But yeah, contingency plan: post-con (as that was) is pretty much every man for himself. There's shelter. I was walking through the parking lot of the Hilton when the hail came. I got under the skywalk and followed it to the side lobby.
But for serious weather (read: tornado or flash flood, but not rain/hail), staff should have an emergency plan in place. For semi-serious weather (rain/hail), the only real imposition would be to avoid roads (it's much more dangerous for cars with limited visibility). Use the skywalk = common sense.

Speaking as IRT, we (as well as the Hyatt) do in fact have contingency plans in place for severe weather - and tornadoes/other dangerous weather, as well (gods forbid). It's something we usually hope and pray won't happen, but we have game plans for it just in case. In the Batcaves of Dispatch, we had two laptops scouting weather.com for weather alerts, and were watching the radars for any weather that looked to be heading our way. When that sudden assault of rain/hail came down (which, despite our scouting, caught us completely off-guard with its speed and intensity), and we got the word from our fearless leaders, we issued an alert to our ops to advise them of the weather. If any of you were told by any IRT that going outdoors was ill-advised, this is why. With people going back and forth outdoors, as well as leaving con (attendees as well as staff), it would have been folly for us to not have a contingency plan in place for such weather.

I remember the Utica tornado Sad TwT but then Streator about a year ago >3> scary... I just got out of town before it came through. NOW I live out in the middle of nowhere and I can see Utica/Peru/LaSalle/Ottawa water towers from my yard =)
Yesterday I heard a siren going off I ran out to the field and looked.. All I saw was orange clouds so I went back inside to watch the rest of my movie.
