I'm almost done with my Kasuga costume, but it has these weird fishnet inserts on the side which are cut in a way that they defy just wearing fishnets underneath.

Right now, I have the fishnet loosely tacked down with an overhand stitch, but I'd like to secure it with something more than a single thread. I'm not sure if I should just continue hand stitching it down, or put elastic on the back of it, or just tape it to my legs or what. Anyone done this before/suggestions?

Spandex is super finnicky, so if you want it really secure, you're right in the hand stitching approach. Your best bet for stretchy fabrics is a backstitch, probably in a double thread so it holds up through the con.

Thanks, I'm definitely sticking to hand stitching it! I ended up getting some bias tape to use as a facing, since it'll stretch a bit and hold the fishnet in place somewhat. Guess I'll see how it turns out!
