That's good, but much of it is joking around, and all of it is subjective and character specific (i.e. the characters used in the example).
Hopefully the Naruto and the Asahina Mikuru cosplayers can find it useful. Because it's intermixed with jokes, many will find it just confusing.
I think it was meant more as entertainment than instructional.

Just came across this. It's a nice guide on how to work angles and whatnot. Creator says it's mostly geared towards the ladies although anyone could benefit from the tips.

Though, also remember that angles are important. Looking directly at a camera may make your face look bigger/rounder than it is. If you hold your head back or down, any skin you may have around your jawline may bunch up and it will give the illusion of a double-chin (not good especially if you've recently lost/gained a bunch of weight or if you have a weak jawline/chin. Easiest way to describe this motion is 'turtle pulling into its shell.')

Other camera basics:
Posture!
Smiling is optional, but do remember.. a few of these photos will end up on the internet.. so.. how do you want to present yourself to the world?
Flipping the camera off.. unless you're cosplaying Onizuka... don't do it. It looks SO crass and unbecoming on your part.

One thing I'd like to recommend especially to the guys.
Have a look at the male/couples section.
Half of you look as stiff as a day old corpse when you're posing. Not due to lack of talent, but because you need to relax.
Treat posing something as impersonal as a drivers license. And believe it or not, girls don't bite..... usually.... (my niece does but that's only when she's mad.... you know.... 2-year-old's and such.... )

But just relax. Everybody.... this is supposed to be fun.

Really a rather good thing. Of note on poses too, if you have partners, or a partner, work with them before hand to see what they feel the most comfortable doing.

Oh and have someone photograph your poses, what may look good on a model might not look as good on you. This way you can see which side is your good side, and how to present that side to the photographer.

This thread is absolutely wonderful! I have had so many cases where I go in to a shoot, get tons of pictures taken of my very expensive costume, and wind up looking like a total dork- and not in a good way! I always freeze up when people ask for a picture because I never know the pose or the expression. Now I have lots of references to play around with. You people are awesome. I hadn't even thought to look this stuff up! I thought it was like.. you can photograph well or you can't XD

I've ALWAYS had trouble coming up with poses. Especially at photoshoots when you have to get your picture taken so many times. Eventually I just run out of ideas. So this is really great! I've seen the tutorial with the Naruto cosplayer before but I love the huge list of poses.
