So who else is a fan of this band?! I first discovered them about 2 years ago after watching episode 37 of Moral Orel, entitled, "Help"..towards the end of that episode, I heard the lyrics, "...Like a trash can fire in a prison cell. Like the searchlights in the parking lots of Hell. I will walk down to the end, with you, if you will come all the way down with me."..At the time I was suffering from an intense depression, and the lyrics and sound of this band just clikced with me. Unlike all the people who were trying to cheer me up and tell me how great life was, all I wanted was someone or something that was at the rock bottom place that I was at. The Mountain Goats and that music were that to me. It went with the tone of Moral Orel perfectly too. Its a sort of bitter-sweet, pitch black irony that really hits the core of a human being. Though I'm not in that depression anymore, I still love this band and the lyrics they put out, but not many people I know like them. I found out Teko likes this band (cuz we're Facebook friends, be jealous), and I was surprised. I wondered if any other Acen people had an affinity for this kind of music..Do you?

*Sorta want*

Is it heavy metal or rock?

If it has too much bass then that might not be no good but going to try it out before I judge.

It's really neither man. I only put "The Best Ever Death Metal Band out of Denton" because it's a songs title of theirs and I was hoping someone would get the reference. Their sound is really kinda mellow and folk-y...really easy to listen to

Just listened to "Old College Try." I enjoyed it.

Also, Moral Orel is a great show.

I love the Mountain Goats. I was introduced to them about 4 years ago by a friend of mine and instantly fell in love with them. I saw them live about a year ago and they were phenomenal.

I'm listening to them now. I like their cover of You're So Vain. I've had their CDs on my computer for a long time now, but I just haven't listened to them yet because of the 10,000 other songs on my iTunes (but this thread convinced me).

I adore the Mountain Goats and I was also introduced to them through Moral Orel. Actually, I think I was introduced to the two at the same time in the episode "Numb" when "No Children" plays near the end.
