[eat_me_for_I_am_peeps]

alright so i know that there are plently of cool people at acen (proudly being one of them) :3 but some are just plan scary and you need to stay away from them. this topic is here to promote safty at acen, and here are some tips and all are welcome to add if needed :3

1. if ur under the age of 18, THERE IS NO REASON TO GO INTO A STRANGERS ROOM ALONE! its extremly dangerous and if ur going anywhere with someone you dont know, BE IN A GROUP dont go anywhere or with anyone you dont know if ur alone. its not safe and u just shouldnt do it.

2. ALCOHOL IS BAD FOR PEOPLE UNDER 21!!! if ur offered a drink DONT TAKE IT! not worth it, and just plan dont take anything from anyone! it could be roofied and get you in hella trouble!!!

3. if you dont have the money, work for it (not like that) dont just take it. its so uncool to steal from ppl that work hard for their stuff

4. if someone looks like a creeper, chances are they are. avoid those please

5. CALM UR SELF DOWN no need to get worked up over stupid crap (excuse the language) but its true, just cause someone says something or does something minor or, god FRIKEN forbid, has a bad cosplay, dont be a douche about it, be cool and roll with it because if ur someone getting that worked up over stuff like that, chances are that people arnt thinking ur as cool or as passonate or w/e as you think you are

6. plain and simple, dont be a jerk

7. dont try to scam ppl in with "badge switching" or anything like that, not cool

8. have fun! if ur stressing about where to go and where to be, ur not gonna have ANY fun

Yes and be sure to watch out for this Creeper he is very dangerous and if you see him don't try to glomp him because the end resaults will not turn out well for you But yah be safe everyone.

Not only do I not glomp in general, because I am very tall and would knock down most everyone.

I certainly would scream like a small child and run away if I turned around and a creeper was standing them.

Yeah, and it totally blows when you climb a tree and they just show up at the bottom waiting for you...


...but seriously, not all people who look like creepers are (not every nice guy/girl is clean cut and good-looking, and not all nice-looking, clean-cut guys/girls are good guys), but you should always use common sense in a large population of strangers.

Hate to say it... but there are people who just look "creepy", who's to say that they are more likely to be a "creeper" and not a cool person?

Just gotta use your judgement on everything that might seem a little sketchy.

If you had to rush your cosplay at the last second and missed some details, would you want people pointing it out and being a-holes about it? No, so neither should you be to anyone else.

If you were a super nice person and offered to provide booze or something for someone else (of age or otherwise), will that person immediately trust you and go 1-on-1? Probably not, but there are some naive and/or younger members who just might. The point is, don't be too ready to get cornered with someone. If a situation feels odd or wrong, find an out. If it's uncomfortable for you, politely decline and state 'that would make me uncomfortable. Thanks, but no thanks'; something along those lines.

Also, I think you covered 85% of the scenarios IRT has to deal with. The other 15% are either unprintable, pics-or-it-didnt-happen or involved oranges.

Having to deal with all kinds of creeps in my 13 years of attending, I am wondering if there will be a IRT help line again? Though I knew they could have responded fast enough to the drunks on the elevator last year. I would still like to report inappropriate behavior when necessary.

I have a friend who could be considered a creeper but he's easily one of the best creeper-get-rid-of-er ever... and he's not really a creeper its just that we've given him the title; it kinda stuck.

When I first saw the title I thought it was going to give me tips on how to be a creeper or who to look out for.

So if someone isn't physically attractive, it's okay to shun them? Because creepers don't really have a "look", per say...actually, just avoiding a nice person because they look "like a creeper" is a really good way to ruin an innocent person's Acen...

First of all, you sound like your drunk right now. Don't you notice all the red squiggles under your typing? If you're trying to sound educated and want to "educate" people who have been going to this con for years (and most of whom are much older than you) you should probably consider spell checking your work....and not using words like "hella"

Oh, and punctuation is your friend.

Secondly, Alcohol is not BAD for people under 21, it's simply illegal. Not that I condone underage drinking, but it's done in other countries and it's a misconception to label it as BAD.

This, and for many other reasons already highlighted in previous posts, is why you're sensing "hostility."

I'm just saying how many people are going to take the time to either copy & paste to, or write it in, a word doc before putting up there post. Granted I do but... I don't really expect it from everyone, but if you start your own thread?

Well aware of that, and so is providing underagers with alcohol. Sorry if it sounded like I was putting it in a positive light.
Personally don't care if 18+ are drinking, but I don't want to be present when they are since if the five-o DO show up, it'll be my arse in jail for it
