Since it baffles me how there is not already a topic on this series considering how popular it has become. And how it has quite honestly revolutionized the magical girl genre recently. It has taken what is typically a very happy, light hearted genre and added a dark and psychological element to it.

The last couple episodes also recently just aired over in Japan, but I would like to start some general hype and discussion on the series before getting too much into that.

But its one of those series that if you have not checked it out, it is definitely worth your time. So yeah...Go Madoka!

Thank you, FlyingElf! I wasn't sure how many people on this forum actually knew about the show, but at least the word could be spread out how great this anime is. I first heard about Madoka Magica in the beginning of March while I was kinda getting annoyed with where Bakuman was heading.. had to get away from it and come back to it later. But yeah, when I saw Madoka, it gave a new and interesting perspective on the magical girl genre and the story grabbed me from beginning to end.

While listening to the music throughout the early episodes, I called out the distinctive sound of Yuki Kajiura, and sure enough when I looked it up, it was. Waiting a month from now for the soundtrack to be released is starting to irritate me! Mami's theme is one of my favorite themes.

I loved Madoka, it's definitely going to be one of the best animes of the year. My friend introduced me to it by begging me to watch it. I'm usually not a fan of the magical girl genre, but Madoka made me adore it. <3

Yeah same here. I've only seen a few of them.

Look at what they did with the Blu ray release. I guess it had to match the room in Episode 12.

I mean this show is probably the best we're going to get all year, but forget that. This show is already one of the best we've ever received.

We held a showing of the final 2 episodes at Anime Punch in main programming this year, completely unscheduled, and had a pretty solid turn out for it. Getting to watch the final 2 episodes on a big screen projector...Yes please...

I love this series more than life itself. Personally, I find the witches more interesting than the magical girls of the show lol. But all in all, everything about the show just makes my head spin. I spend hours on the madoka wiki looking at the runes and hidden messages. It was also interesting to see one of the speculations of the ending come true Madokaaaa Magicaaa~ Words cannot describe how much I love ittt /fangirls

Just saw the blu ray version of the first episode. They tweaked Mami's transformation. Added a little more animation, less shiny and the music was played from the beginning rather than the middle part; it was also sped up(or played normal) when it was slowed down in the broadcast version.

I was in an anime funk for a couple months, until I marathoned Madoka show a few days ago. This was a heck of a show to get me back into anime-watching. Not the best magical girl anime I've see (Princess Tutu is still better), but really good nonetheless.

I haven't seen all of Princess Tutu, but I'd say the thing it had in common with Madoka was that it had a both light and dark toned story.

Umm... They aren't nameless. Their names were released on cards using runes. People have already deciphered the runes. Assuming you're talking about the names I said... The silhouettes are also not nameless. They were past witches that were saved by madoka. This is because those magical girls were also walpurgis night's familiars and as you should know, walpurgis night=night of witches. I forget what it said on her official card but it was something about how no one knew if she was one entity or many witches in one.
Besides the similarities are too uncanny. And some of their magical girls forms have been hinted at which match the silhouettes such as walpurgis night and h.n.elly. I'd post pictures if I wasn't on my phone XDD
