But I also have a huge weak spot for romances. Romantic comedies and dramatic romances....I love them both.
My tastes go across the board, I'm just more prone to choose sci-fi or romances when left to my own devices.

I love those too! Like the movie ending for Evangelion. Well otherwise I like Space Westerns and Crime Fictions...Cowboy Bebop has both....it wins all prizes!

I guess the easiest thing to say is, I like action that ends sadly, or has some wicked twist at the end. Right now my faves are: Death Note, Kuroshitsuji I & II (only makes the list because of Sebastian

on the off days sometimes I like crazy series with deeper meanings and symbolism. [Madoka, Mawaru Penguindrum, etc.]
but I also love a good service anime. Mayo Chiki is my current fancy.

Sci-Fi, too. Lain, Ergo Proxy, Texhnolyze, and weird mindeff things like that.
And I'll usually give a show a chance if it has a female lead character. If it's weird or not, I don't know, but I always appreciate when shows have a strong female protagonist, like Balsa from Moribito, or Major Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell.

I like strong female protagonists too--and it seems that Shirow Masamune loves to use strong female protagonists and I think that is a part which pulls me in to read his manga. Deunan from Appleseed I would consider strong as well. But Major Motoko Kusanagi is the coolest ;3. But I'm not biased whatsoever. XD
Cosplay for ACen 2013: Major Motoko Kusanagi--Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. 2nd GIG, Lucy--Elfen Lied, episode 1 "outfit' ;3 and perhaps an additional. Maaaaaybe :3
