If I ran ACEN . I would get rid of the musical acts and dances. I would bring back the con suite. I would cut down the number of American guests and bring more Japanese guests.

Keep in mind that the dances and concerts are EXTREMELY popular. Ever see the line for the Soap Bubble? People aren't standing in line just for kicks. Nothing wrong with wanting more Japanese guests, but we can't forget to show the American folks some love, too.

anyways, for me, more japanese guests. American guests are fine and all, but I rather see more people who make anime/manga/ games happen more then the people who localize it, or are part of that process.

I can't imagine an ACen without the dancing... especially in knowing how many go for that purpose only.. o-o; But anywho!

If I were to run ACen, like stated before, there would be many more japanese guests! And not simply the VA's, but publishers, studio members and mangaka! I mean.. I love the geek fest that ACen has grown into over the years.. but I miss the central focus on japanese animation... and I'd add another ballroom dance!! Waltzing in cosplay, anyone? >w>

There would be more Yaoi, hentai, Yuri, Futa, etc. after 11pm ._. Also the dealer room would have more stuff in it.

More Japanese VA and less lines/issues for registration at the Con. Some of those times were beyond the control of the staff but they were really really bad like 12 hours one year.

There would be better bands from Japan, and there would definitely be more VA's from Japan. Not to mention there would be better anime-based panels and no dances. The dealer's hall would be devoid of bootlegs, too. Any seen would get the vendor a swift kick to the rear directly out the front door. Not to mention they'd have better stock. There wouldn't be a **** line-con, either.

It would center around anime/magna and Japanese culture. If someone wants to cosplay as an Western animation/comic character that is their prerogative, but people go to an Anime Convention for a reason. Panels and guests would have to be from the anime industry and that's it. Let the American comic artists, gee, I don't know, go to the Comic Convention.

AnimeIowa has it right by blatantly telling people this is an Anime Convention first, and only submit anime/Japanese related panels.

Also, bring the formal ball back, raves really aren't my thing, but heck yes I'll dress up and go to a dance.

Since this is a what-if thread...I'd have a zombie apocalypse happen, because that would liven the con the hell up if we had to fight for our lives while dressed as our favorite anime character. Think about it. It would be ACen Of the Dead. You'd have a legit reason to bash the snot out of a Naruto cosplayer or that annoying raver. (Even if the latter wasn't a zombie. Hard to tell sometimes.)

But seriously...I'd bring back the con suite, with very strict rules on its use. I'd bring in more guests attached to the anime/manga industry--and I don't care if they're American or Japanese. And if you want to dress as frickin' Spiderman, that's okay by me, because Spiderman had his own manga. Heck, if you want to dress like Barack Obama, that counts too, because he's been in manga.

I'll echo previous sentiments. More Japanese VAs, Get rid of the dances, etc. But one thing that would be a must is to allow people not directly involved in Anime to have a damn panel. My example. Last year the Nostalgia Critic was selling stuff in the dealer's room. When someone asked why he wasn't doing a panel he replied that the people that run acen wouldn't let him because he has nothing to do with the anime industry. That is a crappy reason to deny someone as a guest. That's probably the reason we'll never get Team Four Star or LittleKiriboh at acen. That is something I would change

Acen would start and end whenever I want it to and I could have first row seats at any event and I could go to any panel and it must start when I am ready. Oh and get the best food out there (my lunch is ready) and hangout with the guests anytime. Oh and first pick at anything at the exhibit hall and artist alley.

Here's a challenge/hypothetical question for you all (I ask this because, in all seriousness, this thread is catching eyes other than attendees'.)

Let's say that you wanted to get rid of the dances/musical events. What would you replace them with, keeping in mind that those tend to bring in quite a few attendees on their own? That's a lot of space/time to use, after all, and as mentioned before, there are people who come to ACen solely for those events. What would you provide that could draw in lots of interest?

Yeah, While I know everyone has their own opinion, I don't understand why you'd get rid of the dances. I mean they occur late at night when not much else is going on besides a few panels and the video game room basically. I mean the line might be obnoxious at first, but it usually dies down not too long after the dance has actually started. I also agree with having more Japanese guests. Also, it would be pretty cool to have some sort of talent show. It doesn't have to be just Asian culture related, but I'm sure there are a lot of talented people at Acen that could show off their skills in whatever.

Agree on lasers. Disagree on reasons why TFS or LittleKuriboh wouldn't be able to come as they do have a connection to anime in the form of popular fandubs of an anime series. I wonder... maybe if Acen would let Nostalgia Critic do a countdown panel on something to do with anime to give him a guest status?

If I ran Acen I would get rid of the no selling of food in the dealers hall. I do not want to leave the convention to get my Pocky or Ramune fix if I run out.
