Best way to lose weight is through a balance of exercise and cutting calories. Putting emphasis on one over another will only add unnecessary strain.

Make sure to eat right and cut out the harmful fats and cholesterol. Stay away from trans fats. The other fats are considered essential, so you don't want to avoid them. You do want to be mindful of taking in less saturated fats however. Stay away from LDL cholesterol and favor HDL cholesterol instead. LDL is mostly useless to you and is only a nuisance in the long run.

For exercise, sticking to aerobics is best for losing weight. Spending an hour a day on aerobics five days a week with alternating heavy and light levels are great. Swimming is arguably he best form of aerobics, but really the best aerobic exercises are the ones you can stick to. For me, I've always done stationary bikes and squats. Weight lifting isn't very good for losing weight, but it's nice to get some change in you exercise regiment and tone your muscles at the same time.

Realistically a person should only drop one pound per week. Two is considered the max. Anything more may lead to problems. It's not terribly hard to create a calorie deficit of 3500 every week with a combination of diet and excise.
My tongue moved, a swung relaxing hinge.
I said to her, 'What will become of us?'
And as forgotten water in a well might shake
At an explosion under morning

Or a crack run up a gable,
She began to speak.
'I think our very form is bound to change.
Dogs in siege. Saurian relapses. Pismires."

- from Seamus Heaney's "Sibyl", part two of "Triptych"

Ehhh, this is really only true if you're already at a semi-decent weight. Weight training builds muscle which in turn burns off more fat. While your number may plateau at a point (i.e. "I'm stuck at 210 lbs"), you will be getting in better actual shape in the long run. Besides, 15 kg = about 33 lbs, which is kind closer to that "significant weight loss" area (as opposed to "just a couple pounds"), so putting on the muscle would help more than hurt.

For most cutting out the fast food can really do alot :) I am also trying to lose some and it is difficult. I have cut out all fast food for the last two weeks and actually feel pretty good. Home made foods and more veggies are starting to work well for me, and I feel I have more energy to. I have discovered I like diet Dr. Pepper and Coke Zero so that's all I drink for soda lately to.

Also if you have a safe place to just walk and alternate with speed walking if your up for it do that for at least a half hour a day or more, before dinner is best if you can manage it. Carry around some 2-5lbs weights for extra toning if you like :) I don't seem to eat as much and I imagine it helps with digestion to have the blood moving :) Ive lost almost 5 lbs so far and hopefully I can keep it going!

I wish you luck with what ever you decide to do to reach your goal

I dunno I got mixed feelings about diets.

Lol if you really want to lose weight you could try insanity

I personally feel like you should just work out, do crunches/squats/cardio/etc. variety of exercise to work on all areas of your body everyday for one hour or two and drink the required amount of water (8-10 glasses,) and cut out the snacking, fatty foods, fast foods (unless it's subway and even then count the fats and calories,) etc. and consume more green veggies and less starches. Btw some Calories are good and you need them but not all as well as fats. Trans fats are the bad ones that you can get from Mcds among other things. Also cut down sodium as well.

I seen people do the shakes, the fasting, the water diet (as in drinking nothing but pepper, lemon, water, honey and some other stuff only and eating very little if any,) as well as the whole gym thing. With fasting you do lose a lot of weight but you CAN gain weight and it's hard to get back on track with the weight when you go back to your normal lifestyle but everything depends on person to person.

stop drinking soda, juice, or generally anything that isn't water.
when you eat salad, go for lemon juice or whatever instead of fatty salad dressings.

Definitely. Cutting out the calories you drink helps out alot. Fill up on veggies and watch your portion sizes too. Read the labels, when you know how much you should consume and how many calories your taking in it really makes you think about what your putting in your mouth. Also exercise! One can burn like 600 calories on an elliptical in an hour and it makes you watch what you put in your mouth cause you dont want all the exercise to go to waste... Also try and be realistic about it. Ashbird was right a pound a week is sensible amount to lose. You have to eat at least 1200+ calories a day on to feel deprived, at least. Try weight watchers. I've been following it since last november and have lost 90 pounds.

kpop is a music...but kpop stars stick to certain diets to help them maintain their perfect figures
For example:
snsd before concert diet:
breakfast: 150 g brown rice, 100g onion/garlic grilled chicken breast(no salt), 50g spinach, 5 pieces of steamed broccoli
lunch: 150g brown rice, 100g grilled chicken breast with out salt, 100g lettuce with bell pepper salad, 10 almonds
snack: 100g sweet potato, 1 cup soy milk or low fat milk, 5 cherry tomatoes
dinner: 100g sweet potato, 3 hard boiled egg whites(1yellow), 100g lettuce with bell pepper salad

Secret eats lots of tofu, cucumber and sweet potato
Hyuna-from 4minute- didnt eat any flour...lost 40 lbs
Bom-From 2NE1- did the lettuce diet...still not sure what that entails....
Son Dambi-excersises like mad all the time
she said she was quote "addicted to excersise"

this is what i meant...and by the way...
does the first one the snsd before concert diet sound drastic...? I was thinking of trying it

No, it sounds like a very balanced diet.

You have to make sure you have a good source of protein in your diet. Eating leafy greens (like I saw a lot of people suggest) only is not going to help at all. Especially when you're exercising. Protein rebuilds those muscles you're beating to a pulp everyday with exercises. That's why your arms and legs get sore. And they'll stay sore for a long time if you don't get some proteins.

This is actually a good diet but I have to agree with Rukariou you do need proteins. Also you need fruit as well; people always forget to eat fruit since it is part of a balanced meal, including myself. Try to make sure you eat fruit that doesn't have a lot of sugar or covered in chocolate as a snack instead of those cookies or what not.

Also WATER WATER WATER. I don't know too many people who really drink 8-10 every single day with their diet then complain why they are not losing weight.
