As for activity on the forums being slow... it seems pretty active to me, but maybe that's 'cause I usually prefer smaller forums over larger ones. Threads in Chit-Chat seem to move especially fast to me, which can scare me away from posting as much as I'd like. x.x Not to say people should stop posting or anything, but... yeah, I'm not exactly sure what my point is. XD

I pretty much only post in Chit-Chat and occasionally in Anime/Manga. I don't post there much anymore because rarely is someone talking about an anime or manga that I enjoy or are interested in. I'm just not really into the new stuff as much, though I'm slowly trying to get back into the swing of things--just watched all of Highschool of the Dead. Yeah, I'm pretty much a dinosaur.
I don't go on the Insanity Forums because I just don't have the time like I used to, before I joined a bunch of other forums and became a Facebook ho.
If there's anything to improve the forums--for some reason the forum isn't listing topics that I've looked at; they all show up looking the same, which is frustrating. Also, adjust the filters. Certain words are not bad; for instance, a certain w-word comes up as "promiscious woman." (Which isn't even the right definition of prostitute.)

Though it gets derailed, it is a family friendly con. If it cannot be said on Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs it cannot be said here.
I'm thinking of the children here. I really want to avoid getting an angry letter from a mother because they got terminology from here. I agree the bad word filters needs to be updated but due to limited team creativity had to come up with things on a shorter notice. It's on my long list of things to improve and I will try to get it in as soon as I can.

Just because a large chunk of is 16+ doesn't make it ok to let inappropriate words be said on here. Young attendees do participate on here and parents do read this forum. I'm sorry I have set some sort of standard here that some people find strange but even if we do not see it there are people that read these boards that do not take lightly to vulgar words.

Unless I can get everyone in agreement that material posted would be family friendly I am not sure it would last long. Other con forums are a little bit looser with the material they allowed on their boards but I need to keep in agreement with the between Disney and MTV rating that is around here. If anyone has ever modded a major board that has parents or very well known figures browsing and ever gotten an long winded letter....they know what I mean.

This actually sounds good. I might pass this along and see if this would be of interest.
Keep it coming!
Also in regards to the mods comment, we try to not be scary. We are human and do like to have fun. We are genuinely interested in a lot of topics and want to participate, not to scare the bajeezus out of you xD

But don't they use that particular word in crime dramas, like...all the time?

As a parent myself, I would not expect my kids to not know what those words mean. In today's world it is very hard to keep kids young, and not let them see or hear things that are too grown-up for them.
But just because kids today know what those words mean, and they are everywhere, does not mean that I would want them to go somewhere like here and be exposed more to that kind of talk.
When I was young(or a teenager) my parents would not tolerate any kind of bad language in their house. We would get punished for using swear words, or others that were not appropriate for our age. So even thought my parents swore at each other and the politicians on tv we could not. It seems a double standard to many of you and it is. But part of growing-up is know what kind of language to use, and who should be exposed to what you are saying.
Till then just think of other words to use. My mom would yell at us and say there are better words then those to express yourself, and till you move out you had better find them and use them.
But really it comes down to just remembering that not everyone on here is the same age as you. And before you say it we do have members on the forums who are 12 and 13 years old. They may not post a lot but they are reading what you say and learning from you.
Blessed are the cracked:
for it is they who let in the light!

many other con of acens size are corporate sponsored
while acen remains nonprofit and volunteer supported
i feel that this unifies us as a community
i hope this never changes
