Like Trini said, if it was what you wanted to do, then by all means. Personally, no, I wouldn't mind in the least bit, and I know many more who wouldn't mind as well. I've seen people the same size in much more revealing attire, and I thought they were just rockin'! xD If it's what you want to do, why should your body-type even matter? Is it true to the character, perhaps not, but honestly, how many cosplayers out there actually are?

Heck yeah! You tell them! I agree. Doesn't matter your skin color or anything related. It's supposed to be fun. Your cosplay makes you, YOU. We're all at ACEN to have fun, not criticize each other because our cosplay isn't perfect or the color of our skin "alters" the costume.

I say you can cosplay what ever you want. If it was an issue with size, sex, or skin color, then that would limit a lot of people.

Also, on a side note about the "wear fitting cloths" part. this goes for every one, big or small. I rarely find a skinny girl with out a bit of a gut any ways. Also, the ones with out it can look kinda...dirty/nasty, because they feel they can wear very little for some reason. (acen has had a few like snj naruto, felicia from capcom puzzle fighter, or etc. if your not a porn star, it's probably best not to dress as one.). so tight cloths can look gross on a lot of people.

Sometimes i think people do it just for the hour they can get away with it, and hope 4chan, or some forums notices them.

This so much to that first paragraph. Muffin tops from you wearing too tight pants are not cute. Giving yourself quadboobs or a "loaf" because your shirt/bikini/whatever top is too tight is not cute. You don't have to have a porn star body to dress scantily, but your clothes better fit well enough to make it look like you do. As for the second paragraph/statement, you would think no one wants to be remembered on 4chan for something negative, but I wouldn't be surprised. :/

Also, if you dress as....let's say....leeloo, the bat girl from night stalkers, cammy from street fighter, or mai from fatal fury, then expect not to draw a crowd.

I never will understand why they get so mad at all the pics. Your half naked, in thin skin tight cloths, and there are a lot of guys around. Your also dressed as an anime character most guys find hot. What do you think will happen? do you really expect to be able to enjoy the con with out interruption when your chest is 90% visible, and your butt is covered by a small triangle.

I actually saw one cuss at people because she had such a big crowd around her, she could only walk like 3 feet before being asked for a pic.

I understand some people might like the character, such as cammy, but some characters like mai, or etc, are created with just smex in mind, and little character depth.

Not me I rather just 'do' said anime character NAO or just write about it I mean I wanted one of my bfs to cosplay Maito Gai and I do Rock lee but he was totally against anything that was close to being hoy yay or even hinted at hoy yay, even though I was a girl or any character he disliked.

And it was fair play in terms of my bf because I was doing a Sengoku character for him<3

Interesting case in terms of this topic: A magazine published an article about Miku and this girl cosplayed Miku and she was of some weird decent. It's from Clash and she kinda has a 'triangle face' as dubbed by the people protesting.

Its hard for me to find anything to cosplay that flatters a 5'6 and 100++ girl (A lady never says her weight) so I mostly dress like a punk rocker or a collage student for the first 3 years because loose clothing hides all my flaws as well as dark colors make me look more slimming.

most of them dress like everyone else.. you see them everyday while you are out..... trust me.....

That is extremely cruel! In my opinion cosplay is for fans to dress up as their favorite character, skin color and weight should not stop ANYONE from cosplaying who they want to cosplay as. I've been seeing a lot of cosplayers recently editing their skin tones with make up just to be accurate I admit, I've done this before too, but I finally realized that I shouldn't try to hide my skin tone due to trying to look exactly like a character.

Actually that's a good point. I think people think in terms of black and white when it comes to society or double standards. Like if you are a pervert you have to be a creeper or easy, especially if you are a girl.

I think this is why a lot of people don't attempt other cosplays due to jerks like that one guy with that Tifa cosplayer.

I agree. I also tried to edit my skin color to look more tanner for my Yoruichi cosplay. But then I realized I don't need it. So what if I'm pale? I mean I did recieve some comments that weren't "nice" but I told them "I'm not going to be changing myself for your perfect view of -insert cosplay here-."

that is what i meant before. i think in some peoples heads, they want to see the perfect real life version of the anime character for mental thought later. when it's not, they mock them.
