the seasons have changed, spring is coming, but not quite here yet.
what songs are you listening to as you wait for it to be bearable and non-freezy outside?
are you listening to slightly different songs than you were during the summer?

Been listening to Disney songs in German like I always do. I've also been listening to various opening and endings of anime/sentai series. Right now I'm really diggin' W-B-X from Kamen Rider W and Resuscitated Hope from Gosick right now. They are so good.

Doesn't seem like a lot of people are listening to hip hop or r&b around here. Anyways, The Dream's Love King album is what I've been listening to lately.

toro y moi is chillwave, that's sort of hip-hop-ish..maybe? it's like, soul..kind..of?
if it makes you feel more comfortable, i was all about the last kanye west cd back when it had just come out.

that reminds me, i forgot to mention that i have been listening to the radio dept's latest lp: clinging to a scheme. OMFG. my favorite band. so good. i really hope they come back to chicago during the summer, so i can see them live.

Check out this song called "World Order" by the band called World Order. If you like the Euro-Dance style of techno music, you will like this song. Sure, the lyrics are Japanese (World Order is helmed by acclaimed Japanese MMA fighter Genki Sudo), but the music is so kickin'-rad that you won't care about understanding what he's singing. Link:

Even if you don't like techno or electronic or dance music you should check this out, it's got a sort of Postal Service vibe.

Also check out the song "Out of Time" by the band "Pretty Lights". Sort of a trip-hop-style of DupStep. Link:

And you can't go wrong with Passion Pit! All of their songs are great, in my humble opinion.

OMG Loveless by My Bloody Valentine is ridiculously great shoegazer music! I love that someone else on here knows about them.

i'm glad whenever anyone has heard that it, in any place, in any situation!
it's a timeless classic, as far as i'm concerned.

I could not agree more about it being a timeless classic. That band does not get the respect it deserves, nor does it get acknowledged for being a huge influence on most contemporary indie bands.

i only heard the cd for the first time recently, BECAUSE so many reviews and fans mentioned it being a massive influence on whatever band i was listening to at the time--and yeah, definitely, the majority of indie bands right now seem to have roots in loveless or outright sound like a slightly different take on my bloody valentine's loveless-era sound.

it says a lot that the shoegaze thing is so popular right now, and loveless remains a standout regardless of how many bands there are following suit.
